    2004 outback engine

I thought 03/04 had EGR, but normal exhaust ports? Then in 05 with the 4th gen they did oval ports. Either way, just re-use the heads..

ej18 timing issues- anybody done this before?

It's the same as an ej22 or ej25* sprocket. *ej25 has two different sprockets, one with a lot of reluctor lobes, and one like you're holding. The one you have pictured will work fine on the ej18.

My hot maker stopped making hot...

If your thermostat is stuck closed your heat will still work, if it's stuck open you'll have a low temp on the gauge and your heat will be abysmal. If the engine is overheating and you don't have any heat, it's almost always blown headgasket.

My hot maker stopped making hot...

Did the fan still blow air, just cold air? Or was the fan not blowing at all? Was it overheating at the same time?

So? Uploading an image to here or imgur takes the same bandwidth... Your best bet would be to reduce the size of the picture before trying to upload it if you have a slow connection.

    4.44 R160 lsd rear diff

The cars I know have them are 97-04 outbacks, legacy GTs, and foresters with an automatic transmission have 4.44 rear ends. I don't know about outbacks and stuff with the 6 cylinder and/or VDC, but I know the 4 cylinder ones do. I put an outback diff in my legacy GT, both autos, and it worked...

    4.44 R160 lsd rear diff

Automatic outbacks, legacy GTs, and foresters have a 4.44 diff. So pretty much any junkyard will have one of those.

    Speed Sensor Problem

No problem. The trick to getting the old ones out is to very carefully head around where it screws into the trans. Some really brilliant asshole at subaru decided to red loctite plastic into aluminum.... You just gotta work it back and forth out slowly without melting or breaking it... fun stuff.

04 wrx money pit, got to pay to play.

Ahhhh shiny new engine! Are you replacing the pistons, too? The stock subaru ones suck.

    Speed Sensor Problem

You can put any vss into any transmission. Be it cable or electronic with NO modification. Their parts catalog likely doesn't know this.... You can put a vss into a 1980 GL transmission with a cable, you can put a cable speedo into an 04 sti transmission (yes those still had a vss) with no...

    Speed Sensor Problem

You can just swap the speed sensors. Take them both out, put the original one in your current transmission and it'll work fine. Same deal when I put a 98 forester transmission in my 2000 outback, I had to swap from the two wire speed sensor to the original 3 wire type. The black plastic 3-wire...
