08 WRX update...

Shorty

Evergreen Auto Spa
I was just reading this brochure I stole off the owners desk when something jumped out at me.

Double wishbone rear suspension. That set-up works awesome on Hondas. Imagine an AWD one. This baby's gunna carve, not push.

Also, its got a few different views and it looks excellent. The scoop is deep and the rear 3/4 view of the 5dr is great. Fog light appear to be standard. Don't you worry. We're gonna be alright.

yeah they had said they were probably gonna ditch the current suspension this time around, thankfully. although i think that the suby push problem lays more with the front suspensions' ability to hold correct geometry through a corner than the rears' camber changes.

I was just going to say.. double wishbone rear really isn't going to do all that much.. believe me its much better than Mcstrut.. but where the car really needs it is in the front. Camber curve is more important in the front and bumpsteer issues would also reside in the front.. but.. maybe they will eventually be going change the front and that would just be awesome.

Ok, but I know the more I changed the rear of my car, the less understeer I've gotten. I know you guys know suspension, but I assume that's why they went that way. I'll see if it'll pull some donuts, not power circles, :

yeah, you aren't really eliminating the push, it is more that you are inducing oversteer. The problems in the front still exist, you are just augmenting the issue by changing when the rear breaks, allowing you to move the pivot axis nearer to the front axle.

Either way, the pics I got look very nice. I'm excited about actually seeing/driving one. They speak of a broader torque curve, but don't back it up with specs or dyno sheets.

Broader Torque curve would be awesome.. looking at what the 06 wrx puts down at the wheels!!

But.. Yeah.. while I dont particularly like the look.. I would love to drive one and see one in person before I reserve judgement.

The World Is Coming To An End!!!

Subarus will no longer have pig snoots!!! (and maybe they'll quit understeering like piggies too??!!))

Whatervver Shall The Scooby Faithful DOOOOooooooooooo????

you should try changing the front and see what happens. throw on a front sway 5mm bigger than stock or some stiffer front springs and i bet you'll get more results than a biggest rear sway you can find.
