09 WRX Rocker panel issue

Hey guys, my rocker panel on the passenger side just under the rear door has popped off its clip. Probably when it was put on the lift at some point. Any of you guys know how to fix this without taking the rocker off? If not, how do I get the rocker off so I can reseat it? I saw this issue described on some other sites but did not get a good explanation of the fix, thanks!

Are you saying that the side skirt came unclipped from the body and left the clip into the rocker panel? If so, its simple to fix.

Typically they just pop the clips, out of the rocker panel, and your side skirt is left with a bit of a gap. To fix that problem all you have to do is re-align the hole to the clip and push it back in.

Now if the problem is: the sideshirt is hanging and the clip is in the rocker. Then you will most likey have to give the side skirt a gentle pull and pop a couple more clips out so that you can get the clip left in the rocker. Remove it from the rocker, re-install the clip to the side skirt, and snap all the clips back in.

This should take you all of, oh.... 30 seconds.

Thanks nate, that's exactly the problem. Duh, I guess I had a brain freeze when calling it a rocker. I have had this thing popped out since before the October group drive.

Now if I pull on this thing to pop the others out, it wont damage the sideskirt? That was my major concern. Oh and it must be stuck in the actual rocker because I can't just push it back in place.

Just give it easy, but firm tug. it will unclip the next clip. If i remember correctly they are space across the side skirt about every 6". Best thing to do is just take the time to look at what you have. Give a little flex, and see whats going on behind it. You will see either the hole where a clip is supposed to be, or a clip in the hole. Who knows, maybe its missing completely.

Self education is the best tool, and will help you get confidence to do other things to your car too.

Thanks nate. I figured as much, I was just hoping to get some confirmation. I did not have any fear with my last car, but that was because if I screwed the part up there was always another one available at a local junkyard. These parts are harder to get and harder to paint match. If I can avoid trouble by asking first, its worth it.
