so i know that 16 cent BPV mod is altering the stock airbox a bit to get a better turbo sound. any idea how to do this and if there are any negative side affects from it? would love some more turbo sounds from my car and i know the new k&n filter will help but this sounded interesting

oh yah... i was supposed to send you pics.... heres mine:

oh ok now i get it. so all you do is take the air box cover off and cut it so it open? what did you use to cut it?

are there any downsides to this mod? i have heard you can turbo surge under low boost you seen any issues?

can this be done with my stock filter till i get a k&n?

no issues.... unless you dont like the sound. and cleaning your filter a couple times a year.

i took my time and cut it with a sharp utility knife. this way i had straight cuts and no chance of slipping with a dremel tool. the results were very clean. and i had only one stab wound in my thumb. haha.

what is the clear plastic container under the air box that runs up into the bottom of it?

anything i should be aware of when attempting this like things that could go wrong to look out for?

think its worth doing with my stock filter for now?

did you drill that bolt in on the top left of the box or is that already there?

well put this topic on the nasioc forum and everyone said to stay away from doign this for risk of gettign water in the filter and gettign to the maf. i dotn see how doign what nate has is any different than having a ram air intake keep the stock front air intake peice

ive driven in crazy down pours.... no rain problems. all i did was open the front of the air box. but even stock the air duct goes straight through a hole in the box. so i get no more water in there then i would straight from the factory.

doesn't matter. i have a cold air intake on the way.

why did you decidde to do a cai out of curiosity. spoke with xpt guys and he said he actully likes the tune they have with the stock air box over the cai and everyone has said how good the stock airboxes are. im still debating wether or not to get the aem cai

been wanting one.... and got a good deal.

will get tuned for it as soon as its on. is it needed at this point in my game? most likely not.

cant wait for it to get here. haha.

a) did you already order it nate

kristof the xpt runs much better with stock airbox and k&n filter. you need to scale your maf a bit to make it run well with a CAI

no i haven't ordered it... im going to pick it up used with about 400 miles on it for $140 shipped. looks like it wasnt even used. its typically a $200 intake.
