after talking to GCLARK about a old supercharger from a bonneville he has... I got to thinking.....

so here is my idea.. I want to supercharge my 98 2.5 LGT I cant find much info on how to do this build....like how much boost I can run? what I have to do to my computer? how to run the piping/intercooler/bov? fuel systems.. pump..injectors/rails? ect.

was hoping yall could give me some info/advice so I can decide if this is something I want to tackle.

just a thought so far but if it can be done. I wanna do it!

thanks.

There's a great build thread in there to on how someone did there rs. I think they ran 5 psi, the only issue was it is super loud unless you relocate the throttle body.

sweet thanks guys!!!! yea that's a great thread!!! I think I an gonna do it!!

No, don't do it.

Lets look at it this way, can you afford the downtime the vehicle will see? Is this car your daily driver? Can you tune it or afford to pay someone to tune it right? Can you afford to pop the motor?

If it were a project car, I'd say eff it go hog wild, but a daily driver shouldn't be a daily project.

you can run 5 psi safely for a long time....very basic install but should have a way to tune it hooked up.....its do-able but just requires time.

Most MAF cars can handle a 5psi supercharger. Look into fuel system upgrades, you might be ok with just an upgraded regulator and/or pump. don't want to lean out and melt pistons. If it were my project I'd get the supercharger hung and working. Upgrade the fuel pressure reg, maybe a RX7 or STI fuel pump, and RUN THAT BAD BOY!! I bet the stock injectors can handle the increased duration. Who cares about supercharger noise. Its a SuPERChaRgeR! I can hear MInis coming a mile away, its AWESOME! Actaully, if it were my project I'd get the thing mounted and working, then run it (take it easy at first) and see if it needed anything else at all. You might be good to go with just the super charger. Wow, I'm kinda excited about this.

get a rising rate fuel pressure regulator and your all set!!!!that build thread I mentioned gives you specs for mounting hardware/brackets etc. that guy had a custom pulley made and some other stuff.......you can do this for a fraction of the cost of a raptor system.......

well I think I am gonna do it but in well thought out steps I have a line on the SC I have the fuel pump the injectors will work.....but step one is my total engine rebuild.... pistons bearings seals valves belts..... and machine work... but in the mean time I can get the parts together and build my set up just gonna wait to put it all together till I am ready

x3.

learn from any engine that has done it...

and the lack of mention of adding gigantic oil pumping is bewildering.

kinda like the bodies.. that too never gets mentioned.

wait for the bent block and kink in the tunnel..and still nobody stays truthful for a worldwide internet post worth any advice. Donlt foregt the permanent lean to the right after struts get outdone.

and subaru plays with tenths of pennies. the crank alone could be a different realm of build. between models. They even kept "expensive" (proper) bearings for turbo engines only.

the scariest part of that EJ to me is the claims of 10 to 1 and greater from the factory already. that is outright bogus.. because if it was, you would not want a supercharger at all on a tight fired 10 to 1.

if it is starining as it is, find ways to work with what it is, and do not exceed.

beware of the bogus stuff.

It can run 5-7 psi without issues..... Super charger weight is minimal. It can be done and run for along time without issues.

Yeah it has been done many times with no issues. And even with that little boost, it can still put out very good power!! Boxer3main still ha not even worked on, or owned an EJ, so I still don't why he acts like he knows about them. Go off the 10's of thousands of other people that have experience with them. As long as you don't overboost it, it will last well

to add.... I have been building motors for 16 years solid... anything can work if done right... and anything built right... can be blown up by a stupid driver. I am working out the fine details day by day... the motor will have the finer things built in like better bearings, harder rods, and if I have my way a 2.2t block...woot! but even if I just strapped the SC to my engine the way it sits it would prol be just fine....and well if I blow it up its my problem...lol and id prol have a freaking great time doing it. it would not be the first or last motor I have cooked... so onward o go this wont be a fast build but ill keep my post very in depth.... thanks all for the replies! ill still take any advice yall got on the matter

Sounds like you know what the hell you're doing!!! I can't wait to see this!
