A friend of mine picked up a 2000 Legacy GT the other day. Got a good deal on it from a dealer that made several repairs before resale. Most of what they did sounded like they fixed a head gasket issue but they said they make these repairs to all cars with the 2.5 before a certain model year. Preventative they called it. Anyway it sometimes starts hard and stutters sometimes when going uphill or when you really open it up. I think it may be a fuel pump. Could anything else cause this? The issue is intermittent, but will still do it at idle. The car itself runs and handles really really smoothly other than this.
