Sold... She's heading off to a new home.
It's time to make this official - the 2.5TS is now for sale.
2003 Subaru Impreza 2.5TS Sportwagon.
5 Speed Manual
114,000 miles
Midnight Black Pearl
Car has been used hard but not "abused". It has been used for daily driving, long trips, track days, rallycrosses, bombing around Team O'Neil's, stage rally recce & crewing, etc. In other words, it's been ridden hard and put away wet numerous times, but has been well maintained and cared for throughout its life.
All maintenance records since new (I bought it with 31 miles on it - 15 of which I put on during the test drive).
Above and beyond the standard 2.5TS trim, the car has:
Group N engine mounts, transmission mount, pitch stopper, and exhaust mounts.
Subaru Factory short shifter and WRX knob.
Remote locks.
WRX Fog lights.
16" WRX rims with General Exclaim UHP tires. Less than 3000 miles on them.
15" Subaru steel rims & hubcaps with Nokian Hakka R snow tires (2 seasons old).
15" aftermarket steel rims with well used Blizzak snow tires.
Carbon/Kevlar skid plate (huge and bullet proof - literally - this was an assembly line prototype made for Rousch Racing)
Engine freshened by Inski at Evergreen approx 7,000 miles ago (typical 2.5 N/A piston slap had developed - squashed that before serious damage occured). New pistons, head gaskets, water pump, hoses, timing belt, accessory belts, clutch, flywheel, oil pressure sensor, etc. Car runs like new. $3,400 worth of documented work performed by an awesome mechanic at a fantastic dealership.
KYB GR2 shocks with stock springs (@ 70,000 miles).
Brembo rotors with Hawk HPS pads in the front (@ 94,600).
Other work in the not too distant past includes rear wheel bearings (@89,800), and front ball joints & new stock Subaru exhaust from the cat back (@94,600).
Currently there are only two things that I feel need to be addressed. There is an excessive (in my opinion) amount of driveline bucking and the occasional "clunk" from the rear when shifting - a Perrin Diff Lock kit has been ordered and will be installed shortly to take care of that.
There is a ticking coming from the front. Definitely related to the wheel speed/rotation - as if there were a rock in the tread. Sounds possibly like a CV joint - but doesn't behave like a bad CV in that it is most noticeable when driving straight rather than when turning. I have been unable to confirm that is indeed the culprit. I have experienced no noticable drivability issues as a result of it yet.
The body of the car is good, but not perfect. Front and rear bumpers have both found themselves up against things (frozen snowbanks mostly
) in the past and have some damage. The car also has a lot of small pitting on it from being sandblasted by road grime during the winter - especially on the front bumper.
There is no rot in the body work yet. The only spots that I found recently were one bubble starting in the right rear fender in the usual weak spot for Subarus. There are also a couple of really small bubbles starting on the roof where stone chips allowed a little moisture under the paint. All of these are small enough that you probably wouldn't notice them unless you are specifically looking for it and would be very simple to fix preventing any issues in the future.
Please note that I am not a motiviated seller, so don't bother trying to lowball the price or play games. I love this car and have no qualms with keeping it, but 4 registered/insured vehicles in the driveway is a bit too much right now, so the 2.5TS is the car on the bubble.
I am asking a firm $5,250 for it. Car is in North Grafton, MA. PM me with any questions.
Tim
