I have been trying to get back into a outback wagon as my daily driver, this car has been on Craigslist for months, started at 7900 and now it's down to 5900. It's at a small dealer/mechanic. He doesn't offer a 30 day warranty but it dose come with temp plates. It's got a clean title, it's been listed at 5900 for a few months now and I don't know why it hasn't been snagged by someone else as the price seems very fair. I am going to look at it tomorrow morning and hopefully pick it up. Any of you guys know anything about it? Figured I would ask as its been on Craigslist for months.

If you can I would leave him a post dated check or something and have a mechanic you trust to check it out. I started doing that after I bought a Jetta that seemed good until I drove it for a few months.

He wants cash and says he won't deal with loans. I have the cash, I plan on taking it on a long test drive, like a lot of guys on here I have a lot of experience working on these cars so I know what to check over. Hopefully it checks out tommorow

Good, let us know how it goes. Just don't want to see you get hosed because this guy is hiding a problem.

So I ended up taking the car, has a few things wrong but pretty typical for the car and mileage. Slight oil seepage around both heads, small chip in the windshield that might end up spreading, and one cv boot is letting some grease by the clamp. I was able to talk him down to 5600, and I have done a few subarus HG jobs in the past so I figured its a decent deal for a 05 with 120k.
