2008 tranny gear ratios

I've contacted someone selling a 2008 5mt, I do not yet know what model it's from.

But I'm having a hard time finding gear ratios and FD ratios for any 2008 subaru.

Anyone have information on this?

It's not that bad. It's higher revving for sure but for something na it's not bad and still has plenty of power. I don't think you'd be sad if you did a 4.11 swap.

chris the 4.11 gears make 5th really nice for pootling around on 2 lane roads (instead of hunting back and forth from 4th to 5th and 4th to 5th like on WRXes) . on the highway it's a lil louder but not horrible. think 2.5RS gearing and you're right in there.

4.11 is great def saves you from down shifting on every other hill you come to and feels very responsive passing on the highway I still get 300+ miles from a tank of gas... do it you wont regret it.

Chris that 2008 is a 3.90 final drive. It has no speedo, you'd have to crack the case and install the gear and sensor yourself ($100 parts) And I think you'll have to mill /drill the hole for it, but the indentation for it is still there.

Also, look into the axles for the front. Male or female I don't know for sure.

Those are the only 2 issues you'd run into.

Personally I'd do the 4.11. You'll gain some gusto and only lose minimal mpgs. 3.90 to 4.11 is not a huge difference.

Yea, I'm doing 4.11. It actually has the same gearset as the 3.9 in the older legacy and impreza. I didn't know that.

It's the outback that has a shorter 5th gear.
