If I remember right you did the 1.8L to 2.5L swap. If I shift at high rpms and do it quickly my syncros/gears grind a little bit. I think the 1.8 trans just doesn't like the quick high revving shifts.its a 95 impreza outback . its not the clutch as it doesn't bother in any other gears and it only bothers on up shifts when the rpms are to high to match . if i wait a second and let the rpms fall it goes in smooth .
If it hurts, don't do that.its a 95 impreza outback . its not the clutch as it doesn't bother in any other gears and it only bothers on up shifts when the rpms are to high to match . if i wait a second and let the rpms fall it goes in smooth .
yes i did. maybe that is it ??If I remember right you did the 1.8L to 2.5L swap. If I shift at high rpms and do it quickly my syncros/gears grind a little bit. I think the 1.8 trans just doesn't like the quick high revving shifts.
yup that's the plan im just takin it easy on 2nd gear .If it hurts, don't do that.
It's an old car, it's not a race car (I never said it couldn't be a rally car). Be nice to it.
Things wear out when they get old, it'll still last a long time if you don't slam it into 2nd every time you shift.
While I've never did a Suby trans, the syncros are cheap and easy. The labor removing and disassembling the trans combined with the tools needed (some kinda press) were my troubles. I ended up making a couple trips to the trans shop to use their press since I didn't have one but it was still wayyy easy.i think my second gear syncro has stop working . i have to rev mach to get it to go in with out grinding .. anybody kno how hard/expensive it is to fix this?
