'99 OBW brake bracket

Chris

YARRR SUBY MONSTER!!
I'm looking for the front left (are they symmetrical?) brake bracket for a 1999 OBW.

The bottom piston on mine is frozen up. I got it a little un-stuck, but I think it just needs to be replaced.

Pretty sure I have one. I gotta check for sure. It would be best if you had yours off to compare it to the one I have. They are the same as A LOT of other models........

It's currently on the car. It works, kinda, but it should be replaced. Tomorrow can get measurements. Like the distance between the bolts on it, etc.

I believe it's the same part as any car of it's age with dual piston caliper. So RS, legacy GT, etc.

Yeah should be any dual piston caliper. I know the distance between the bolts will be the same, it's more the rise of it over the rotor that I want to make sure is the same. If i can't help you, try a wanted ad on USMB. I bet someone will have one, for a good price. But I'll see if I do have one

Good point on USMB, I forgot about that. I could always go to Norm's and get ripped off too...

It isn't the caliper. None of the pistons are frozen. It's the bracket that holds the brake pads. The slide at the top works, the caliper slides on it freely in and out, but the one on the bottom is frozen. And caused the old pads to wear into a trapezoidal shape.

I should probably just replace both sides. Because the other side was a little reluctant to move very much. It did free up quite a bit after I forced it in and out a few times. And yes, Norm's will rape me. I'd rather not have to get it there.

What's a comparable, when shopping around what should be the max I should spend on one of these?

i think they sell the bracket at napa and AFAIK they are priced pretty reasonably

make sure you use Lucas Red'N'Tacky grease to repack the bolt holes too....
