Acceleration/ cut out issue

My car seems to be running quite rich. It builds up a black oily residue on the exhaust tips. It also sometimes doesn't accelerate smoothly. Sometimes it randomly cuts out while driving as well. weird issue. I think it might be my cats/sensors but i know that will run me loads of cash to get fixed so i'm hoping its something easier and cheaper. Any Ideas?

im gonna say po420 code....a chunk of cat gets dis lodged now and then and blocks the exhaust flow cutting out the engine........wheres my diag fee....lol

ahahah. That exact thing happened on my moms volvo 240t. It would only do like 30 on flat stretches and hills. ahahha Mines not that bad I might need to find cats.

OR throw on that catless track pipe again..will be quieter with the brullen!! or give the catless pipe to me..your choice!

I'm trading it to gabe for his side skirts this weekend. Sorry. Are RS cats the same as obs cats? Because I have the opportunity to trade a pair of snowboard bindings for brand new cats out of an rs...

yes and seafoam clean the whole motor out carb wise and what not its like a fuel injection cleaning

vip does have it, i would imagine most auto parts stores carry it.....very easy to do....enjoy the smoke show

I found the cat I put on my RS on EBay. For around $200. Alledgedly (sp?) made by Bosal.

Of course, I got a P0420 cel after the header and cat install.

Seafoam is like, less than $10 a can. Search "seafoam"on youtube. If you don't, it will scare the crap out of you when you do it. Basically you pour it in near the intake, the car smokes like crazy, probably stalls, and then (at least mine) will be a little hard to start.
