Alignment Question

Just got my car brought in for an alignment finally at the AAA right next door to where i work. Is it normal to road test it before/after? They just took it out before the alignment (which makes no sense to me) So i went over there ready to bust some skulls and they told me they do it for every car. If I had an 04 Civic I wouldn't care, but given the type of car I have, i feel like people would use any excuse to take it for a drive

well it's obviously no fun to pre-check alignment on an 04 Civic, eh?

I was in to Sullivan Tire in Falmouth a few weeks ago to get an alignment and they did the same. Dont know what the before drive does for them but I didnt ask.

makes me feel better erik, although it doesn't kill the fun car theory, considering we have identical cars

mark you know I worked at sears for a year...never did they do that.

The only thing they ask is if it is pulling one way over the other. the only time they really take it out is to check for specific noises that a customer would mention/complain about.

but like said above...it would be no fun to drive a 94 civic haha

kidding aside, I would hope that a shop would road test the car before, to help troubleshoot exactly what issues a particular car needs addressed.

translating a customer's vague complaints about "whupwhup" noises, off center steering wheel, shimmies n shakes etc gets a bunch easier when the techs check out the cars themselves.

of course, if they bounce yer car off a curb, they'll just have to take it back for another session on the rack!

yeah but nigel i told them it was purely because i had just put my springs on, it wasn't about pulling, or noises

Interesting question.Last week i was up to E.G getting my new wheels tires put on,i also wanted an alignment and tune-up....Now my car doesn't have quite the wow factor as yours;),and E.G see,s subaru,s on a daily basis:rolleyes:.But i dont believe they test drove my car BEFORE the alignment. What would the need be as i wasnt complaining of any issues??Ask shorty if you want to know their test drive policy,After they did the work the teck did get to drive my car and asked me and shorty about a sound he heard.I like that attention to detail....I hear you tho:mad: If you dont have a reason, stay out of my ride

i just wish i was closer to EG, i get work done so little in a shop that i don't have anyone around i trust

I had mine done at a local shop, yudy's, and they didn't take it for a test drive at all. They simply did the alignment, and did it perfectly.

I will be heading to evergreen in a few weeks for my alignment. They do performance alignments as well right?

to have the same guy work on your car everytime is reassuring

when you set up your appointment ask for inski...

you can get the inski sharp allignment.

but do you plan on doing a lot of racing? or planing on having rubbing issues? if not its not overly needed to have all the extra camber. but some looks COOL!!

Im going to go 1.5 in the front and rear I think. I will be using it for some racing and yes it does look pretty nasty.

most shops will road test a car pre and post alignment. there may be other issues that could have caused the alignement issue.

and any good shop will road test it afterwards to make sure the job was done correctly.

just the way it goes bubbles.
