alternator question

will the alternator off my 2000 2.5 engine work on my 2000 2.2 engine? im here in Ft. Kent and my OBS' alt. pulley bearings are going..and I have the one from the 2.5 at home that can be shipped to me...theres the story

you could always call a parts store and see if the part numbers are the same.....should verify if the connectors are the same

 
The part numbers are different between cars, but most alts within a good year range of your car will work. Part numbers don't mean much.

 
???? if you call vip...where i work and ask for a 2000 rs 2.5 alternator and then ask for the 2.2 itll be the same part number if the alternators are the same.....

 
I have the alt from a 99 outback in my 96 legacy. It bolts up, has the same plug, but different part number.

 
well it doesn't matter, it wasnt the alt that was making the noise, it was a timing belt tensioner getting loose!!! yipes

yeah..took one belt of at a time and the noise was still there..behind the plastic casing EEK
