... does this seem like a bad time to fly? Between cracks in fuselage, seals killing bin laden and taliban being pissed and a handful of people going nuts on planes in the last week, I'm starting to reconsider my vacation to florida next week

The cockpit storming is likely people testing the limits. I haven't heard any real explanation of that yet.

I would say, fly. Just be aware, and ready to act.

I spent close to $700 for gas for my roundtrip to Jensen Beach, FL, a nice 30+ hour drive one way.

It's fine

I flew Southwest airlines 2 days after the fuselage incident. Other than landing sideways it was fine

Economically it;s still cheaper to fly...

Hey, Hey hey.......put on the brakes here

In all seriousness, unless you fly on my airline you are going to die:)

I have been a professional pilot for over 20 years and I have had NO serious issues. Check the statistics on deaths on the road daily and then factor in what you have to spend on gas.

Shut your pie-hole Inski

road rage incidents are WAY more prevalent than airline security issues.

road rage is so common you hardly hear about it any more...not "newsworthy.' but just ask any police officer how often they have to deal with road rage gone bad.

I just hate being anywhere near a large crowd unarmed. The world is so effed up nowadays I trust nobody. So combining my fear of flying and crowds is going to suck. But if the guy in fromt of be starts screaming in arabic ima strangle his donkey

relax...there are a lot of armed ppl running around airports these days, you just don't see em. airport is one of the MOST secure places you could possibly be. it super hard for armed citizens to get in, and even if they managed it somehow, there are lots of trained security officers who are armed to deal with the miscreants.

it's not like you see at Euro airports, where there are these hard-eyed Israeli type guys n girls running around with automatic rifles, tho...which is OK by me.

The world is NOT as crazy a place as Fox News and the like want to make it sound.

Otherwise, we'd all need to live under a rock, and who wants to live life like that.

and if you think the MP5 doods in rome looked hardass, you should check out some of the cats in African airports totin well-worn well-used AKs. yow, now we're talking scary.

Don't worry. Nigel is right, there are plenty of ppl on planes that won't take any crap. The staff gets training on hand to hand combat. Not to mention there are always military guys flying around the country in plain clothes.

That last guy who started screaming and beating on the cockpit door...Do you know who wrestled him to the ground? An off duty police officer. So just because you don't see an armed guard/officer, doesn't mean they aren't out there.
