amp rack location?

Hey Everyone, getting ready to install two amps and a box in the trunk and was wondering if anyone has any ideas for the amp rack. This will be my first attempt at it so I need all the input I can get. I will be mounting an Xtant 302a 2 channel and an Alpine MRP-1507 (this thing is huge) 2 channel. Not really feeling simply mounting them to the back of the rear seats. I will also be doing a zero gauge power run so I would like to mount the distro block in there somewhere as well. Any ideas?

My suggestion would be to build something for the amps and install it all so its easily removed. I'm not sure how many people have gone this far with sound equipment because many people on here end up playing off-road. Amps and subs don't like getting bounced around.

Although I would love to hit the dirt not sure that I will be doing to much in this current ride. Its an Impreza 2.5i that is a pure grocery getter/kid taxi. I just love my tunes! Looking at the trunk and how small it is I have a feeling its going to end up being a false floor, just got to figure out how small I can make a trap door and still have access to the spare. Anyone done anything like this?

In that case then I would do a three section setup. One that holds the amp and subs and the other two pop out to allow your access to the spare. I know how a small trunk is, the previous owner had an amp and subs in my car, I don't know how he set it up because all that was in it was the power wire disconnected at both ends and the audio signal wires going from the head unit to the trunk.

Are you building your own box? How many subs and what size?

I know that I'm not adding a whole lot here... but just wanna say. A 2.5i is a perfect rally car base... Heh. Build it up!!!

OTOH, make it something that can easily come out. Easy disconnects both for the equipment mounting, and the electrical. If you want to load a lot of crap in the car you may want to remove it.

I know the wagon and the sedan are two different animals...but here's what I did in my '04.

There is a false floor in the wagons, and it has a junk tray over the spare tire. So I made a new tray out of MDF and stashed the amp there (I have a JL 5 channel so it was just the one). The sub box got held in with bungie cords so I could pull it on race days.

If the sedan's don't have the same false floor, MDF will be your friend.
