ive never seen a rod snap off so cleanly. the bearing is still smooth, and theres no noticable movement as you would expect it to be totaly shot. Guy is driving along normally, pulls into his driveway, hears a big noise and the car shuts off. piston was fully intact, with no damage just chilling out in the bore....

That has got to suck!! You have any ideas on what caused it? What was this in For a Subaru?

its in a 04 wrx with an exhaust and a intake. not sure, weak spot in the rod is my best guess.

oh wait. I know.....fuel system cleaning from vip!!!! cuz that's the POOP to do says boss

a ground met its match.

my own old one is making me nervous. it will happen at low speed too..

its like a to B becoming ..a to halfway b to halfway.. no end or beginning.

15 below to 40 above is not helping. resonant freaking earthquake.

my 8cyls died to this btw, northern maine thing.

where is this engine living?

Isn't that what they all say, "I was just getting some milk at the store and idle-ing back into my driveway it just stopped" usually translates to "I was 4 wheel drifting this thing at 7k rpm into my driveway, on my way home from the beer store, and it just broke". Sucks either way though, sometimes parts just don't want to go on in either scenario.
