any musicians in Maine?

Ok, having moved here from what I jokingly refer to as civilization I have noticed a lack of musicians up here. I have found about four who all play the same stuff that I learned and forgot almost a decade ago...

I sit up here... alone... playing along with CD's ans such trying to keep entertained and my chops up from rusting away.

I tried Craigs list ...once... It drew the same crowd as it would have in Boston...hahahaha.

is there anybody out there who grooves on newer music and won't sit there bewildered when someon play the riff from "cowboys frum hell" or the likes?

No seriously... it is so scarey up here that the music teacher suggested therapy when my nine year old mentioned Slipknot and Disturbed in music class....

My guitars are pouting and my Mesa Boogie is a vey expensive dust collector....

ps: OK bill me for the therapy...hahaha

If Craigs avatar is a pic of himself than he looks like a mafia wizeguy living under the fed witness protection program and needs to stay in the sticks

kewl....a lot more out there than what I have seen... man am I itching to jam!

I have been playing since the 80's, have taught and actaully at one time performed in a cover band paid all the bills; I guess U could say it was a profession for a while.

Mopre than anything I;d just like to chill with some kewl folk, jam, blow some rust off and maybe start something up just to have sum fun. I am influenced by all the crappy guitarists: Vai, Halen, Satriani, Hammet, Reid, DiMeiola, rhodes... balh blah blah. I am also a child of the shreddin' 80's although I wil no pull off a neo-classical apregiated solo ala. the time period.

damm... we cvould have a subi jam in my backyard by the pool...

This was private party in a club in Ludlow MA, about 300 people were hidden behind turned over pool tables we were sooo loud. SHortly after the song ended we blew yet ANOTHER 50 amp fuse and the drummer did another solo while the power was restored.

ps: Like the error rigfht before the solo...I was buzzed and hit the button for a clean tone and not overdriven solo tone... that's Y they call ti dope... hahaha

if to grow up here and learn from environment, it seems behind times. if a unique sprite happens, its the real unique thing, as influence isn't exactly complicated. I haven't ever heard it from maine either.(I grew up with a mom lead singing and a band in the house as a kid) , and that time I got drunk and took over the guitar in that bar in waterville

Unique indeed.

to claim music is "behind times" is not really thinking enough about a decent opinion.

Have you looked in the Portland Phoenix.com at all? That seems to be a big music/arts publication. Not sure if their website has a forum or anything, but maybe worth looking into
