Any of you fully catless?

I was just wondering who around here is running fully catless, and if so have you ever been hassled about it or failed an inspection? I don't really want to go catless, and most likely won't, but I was just curious...

Thanks.

i was catless and actually got stopped more with my entirely stock car (for exhaust) then when i had it fully catless (makes no sense cuz it was loud). I also never inspected it. just stuck a piece of paper on the window.

im fully catless and with headers. i passed last years inspection. i do think i may be switching some things around.

can't answer truthfully, it's a 5th Amendment thing...

even the LDR rally cars have cats, they have to have em to pass tech. can't get away with fake gutted cat shells, either...they check to see if cats are functioning with a laser pyrometer.

I wouldnt put this in the general forum.. lol

But, the fines are outrageously high if you get caught for tempering with emissions controls, if you get caught Just a public service announcement.

Even catted I'd be worried about the sticker thing, but that's a whole year away anyway... ;D
You worry too much

. Just take it to a real mechanic and not a sticker shop and you'll be fine as long as you have a cat.

So do they swap out their cats after every race? Those anti lag systems tend to demolish cats quite quickly...

My 240sx and Josh's wagon are both fully catless. I've only had one sticker since the swap, and I passed. Josh has had 2 and passed.

And if you're thinking about going with high flow cats, I would recommend not. It only takes a few drives when running rich (if you have such control over air/fuel/boost) to toast it. Its been scientifically proven

If you want to lessen your carbon foot print, o.e. cats are the only ones that will work after lots of abuse. They are also expensive as hell (because of the super expensive materials in them that actually do work

).

on the big money cars you will find the high flow cats positioned at the end of the exhaust. that keeps it from melting.

I ran a hi-flow on the stock fueling map for ~2 months which was running as rich as 9.8 AFR and my single cat is still working well enough to prevent any kind of emission CELs. With the turbo before the cat I think you would have to be running even richer than that and have almost no timing adv (in this case the engine would be doing all sorts of fun things) to manage to damage it in any way.

Those who know whould say that wagon is special

I could be wrong, but Josh uses that website and I don't remember him saying anything about cel's for emissions problems. There could also some wiring funny business that might be keeping that quiet
