Any qualified tuners in Maine?

Are there any qualified tuners here in Maine that can tune an FXT? So far I know of two in New England that I would trust with my car. One is in Connecticut, the other in Boston. I'd just as soon use someone a bit closer to home but I dont' want some backyard yahoo messing with my car's computer. Any information would be appreciated.

Just wondering how someone becomes "qualified" to be a "tuner." ??
When the percentage of cars they mess up drops considerably lower than the percentage they don't

no doubt. I could guess a grumpy tuner after the learning.

I associate the tuning stuff with computer building for a locale. That isn't here either.

The internet and read trials and errors, there is flashes etc etc.

And then again, tuners normally do not now -25F and the dynamics missing making the whole thing a jackass....but have to try anyway.

a backyarder from the cold with tuning first hand would be an inventor. (there will be something not oem to be a real success.)

or southern maine, a little bit of southern new england influence. There is tuners there.

Enhanced Street Performance in Streling, Mass. is THE way to go for 2.5EJ tuning.

DSG had three tries w/my STi and could NOT tune my car.

They did the same to Nate's '07 STi.

On the other hand, ESP tuned my car & Nailman's, RIGHT, the first time.

DSG was a waste of +$500 and the time it took for multiple ME>MA trips.

Alex did apologize for (repeatedly!) "not being able to tune my STi", but kept my $500.

What were they unable to do on your car?

The closest tuner would be synaptic3 in nh but they have hardly any reputation so who knows what kinda work they do. There is no tuner with an awd dyno in ME. Most people go to Mass or CT to either DSG,ESP,or EFI.

After THREE times leaving it, the car ran, as ESP stated, as "one of the worst STI "tunes" they ever saw."

My car didn't idle, ran like crap, A/Fs were off- and it needed a head gasket after 6K miles after the DSG install = Fail. That, and the ARP head studs that I paid for, that weren't installed, that I had to ask for my phucking money back for-a year later. And I paid $500 for an absbolutely worthless, epic fail, non-tune and my car was there for close to six weeks, combined. Fail fail Epic DSG FAIL.

THAT kind of crap will wreck a business' rep, mighty quick...and I don't want it to happen to other people.

tell us how you really feel...haha jk, that really sucks about them. they butchered my friends fenders too.

ECS has that same rep down here with a lot of the local guys. I have personally seen 3-4 failed tunes/builds come from their show so stay away from them too!

I had a local guy tune my car after paying a "real tuner" for a tune that sucks arse.

Just search around nasioc and see who is in your area/ reasonable driving distance and check out their reviews.

Anybody that understands engine tuning dynamics, has a laptop, an OBD II cable, a tuning prog, and A/F logging capabilities, can street tune a car.

Dynos are useful, but not essential.

In Germany dynos are almost non-existent, it's all street-tuning, Autobahn Style.

A tune for real life driving should always be finessed on the street.

If a tuner only "tunes" your car via a dyno, with no street dial-in, you're bound to have a car that had flaws in its' map.

I paid for extra STREET tuning (tweaking) time at ESP, and as a result, I've found only minimal glitches.

Compare that to DSG's dyno-only, (multiple) Epic Fail, Totally Wortless $500 "tunes".

(Fwiw, DSG gave me 335WHP dyno sheets, the car THEN dyno'd a pathetic (oem-grade) 225whp (baseline) <and damn sure NOT 335whp!!) at ESP a few months later.

"Interesting".... ya THINK?? : pissed :

... How DSG "found" 335whp in that beat-ass 225whp "tune" is BEYOND my ability to comprehend....

IF indeed that was even, actually, my car's 335whp reading in the first place.

As assed as it ran, I have my doubts.

Needless to say, I won't be going back, as I value ethics, and my hard-earned money.

I'm sick of sketchy BS in the tuning biz, and when I see (and if I have to) live it, I plan to CALL IT, plain as day. Be forewarned.
