I have yet to find, even in bangor, a notable sized town, a builder.

parts galore. junk piles. nobody but me.

My pc died and I had no spare, nearly a panic, I paid way too much just once ten yeas ago, then became my own mechanic. I lost count aftr 8 or 10...so I leave my memory at 7 builds ...I am curious if anyone in bangor area has some stuff laying around, I do. would swap things...

got some prescotts, modern psu, ddr ram etc,

dead monitors, a tv, two rv600+agp ....

I need an 865 mobo...or dual socket 604 capable of sl8ma....

I do, but I don't have too too many parts lying around.

I have a dead DFI Ultra-D (socket 939) motherboard that I never tried to get working. Bought it that way so I don't know whats wrong with it.

I guess I have old ram, but I want to keep my larger sticks for my old motherboards that use SD-ram

Next time you're by the mall, go into Best Buy and ask to talk with Bryan Lindsey. He's the manager of the Geek Squad, a personal friend of mine, and he's been building rigs for years. He may be able to help you out, and I'm sure he could tell you about a builder or two that is in the area.

I threw my last pile of leftovers into a machine and gave it to rallyguy. Sorry mate.

I can build a new one if you want, heh.

I order all my stuff from Newegg.com. GREAT COMPANY, never had a problem with them and thier RMA service is fast if you should need to use it. I have lots of parts but all the good ones are in one of my 7 PCs. I use to be a professional builder & technician. I was also great with Virus removal until they started getting really crafty, now its impossible to find a virus that is detectable without antivirus software though, bummah. Just FYI though, if you ever have a problem with your registry (very common) there are ways to get around it without a reformat.

Can you ask him why he lets such idiots work under him?

hey thanks. I do spot on craigslist the casual no bs'er. but not actually an advertised business. I am sure there are many. I don;t stay all that quiet. In fact I want a resellers license to just keep on building...

speaking of. ever see a prescott with a 725mhz vid card in an hp6735?

tiny case. i think it is a genius....and heavy too.

I am looking forward to finishing this one. a few more parts.

I like building stuff like this. My last little build was a casetronic c4117 with a hot p4...gets into millimeters and thermal know hows.

I have that same cooler on my video card! It's 8800gt with the first reference cooler, so it needed the aftermarket one badly.

I used to have two 120mm fans on it, but I now only have one 120mm pointed at it because I leave it at stock (EVGA stuper-clocked stock) clocks.

Huh, I have an 8800GTX, the stock cooler sucks on that too and it is a blower fan like the ones you find in cars, not a regular ventilator fan.

The 8800gtx in my rig cooked just a few weeks ago. A bit strapped for cash over here, so it was replaced with a gts250. Not what I would have chosen for an upgrade...but my choices were limited.

Most graphics cards with fans use blower fans (those are the ones that suck air down and push to the side, right?).

Ouch, that sucks. The GTS250 isn't bad, but I don't think its worth upgrading for me unless I go with something top-end, like the 5850/70 or wait for nvidias G300 chips.

Yea, the 250 is pretty much the same card as a 9800, on a caffine high...

Again, not what I would have chosen if I was doing my normal system overhaul I do. I usually upgrade (if it has aged well) or build a new system every 2 years. This rig is still rockin hard despite being over 2 years old now. I probably won't upgrade it unless something breaks, I'll just be building a new one in a year or two. Probably hand this one over to someone else in my family...that's the way it works around here. All of the computers in my immediate family are my old gaming rigs, heh.

About a year ago I built my first new system. Before that it was all built from free stuff. My last rig had dual 1GHz slotted P3s, 768MB of RDRAM, a GeForce2, GeForce RIVA/TNT, and an ATI 128FX to run all my 3 flat screens (all free

), and a 1TB raid3. (I did buy the 3 500GB drives). My raid card started having issues, so I figured it was time for a complete upgrade. My system now ....

core2 quad overclocked from 2.5 to 3.0GHz, 4GB ram, the same drives, but in raid5 now, nvidia quadro FX1300 and an ATI 3450 to run my screens. It was such a shock switching to the new system... haha
