anyone good at trunk swaps?

SO. i tracked down a individual in MA that wants to trade trunk lids with me. i have a spoiler on my trunk and want to go wingless to smooth out the look. it me it makes the trunk look busy. i plan on sometime in the next week or two heading down to kittery area to meet up and swap them out. just wanted to know if anyone here has done this.... advice? anyone want to help?

 
raisin you should have posted on here. I am pretty sure that Dan (greywolf) is looking for the WRX trunk.

 
Piece of cake. EXCEPT: don't forget you need to swap the cargo shelf and center stop light in the back window. Other wise the other dude will have 2 and you'll have 0. The trunk itself is a 10 min job if that. the interior stuff on the older cars was more like 1/2 hr, but yours is probably easier with your fold down seat.

AND, the trunk torsion springs. Swapping those can be a beeotch. If you leave them alone, the other guys won't pop and yours will fly up.

well that's something i didnt think about.....hmmm im not super worried about not having the third brake light. and i could care less if he has 2..haha. i guess its illegal no not have the third brake light though...correct? im hoping he has the same color interior. and yah i did know about the springs....how much of a pain in the butt is it?

 
On earlier cars, it is a pain. When are you doing it? We have a special tool for just such a thing a guy here in the shop made.

 
hmmm..... could i rent it? im planning on doing it in the next week or so. we need to narrow down a time that we are both available. but hes from mass... so we planned on meeting up in kittery somewhere. wanna take a road trip with me? haha. its going to be a weekend for sure, and we were thinking 3 weekends from now. on a side note.... I SOLD MY WHEELS FROM MY TRUCK!!! :headbang: so ill be in to order my SPT exhaust, and im getting some wheels on order right away.

 
Renting would involve a paper trail I'd rather not have...borrow quietly maybe...I'm not sure it'll work on an 08, but I'll try it out. I may be up for a trip, but my time free from the family is tough to come by.

The exhausts are now in stock in Atlanta, so they are like a week away. Have you heard Danbob's yet? I haven't.

 
no i haven't. but continue to read great review on the exhaust. GREAT sound, and cant beat the fit and finish, esp for the price... is it still the low price? i may come see you before noontime.
