Anyone have a good sewing machine that can sew up vinyl? I tried using one of them $30 cheapo mini sewing machines, but it kept snapping the string and the foot wouldn't walk the vinyl because it was to thick. Can anyone help?

that is still a lightweight machine. 3-4oz leather max. So basically garment leather or wallets. It will be slightly light for what you are doing. and you will want a wheel machine rather than a post machine.

Why not get seat covers that are already made using existing patterns?

I have a VERY sturdy industrial machine from the 30's... That will go through near about anything. It also weighs so much it isn't going anywhere...

Chris, what is the machine?

And Yoshi, if you are only doing a few short seams on light vinyl or a garment leather/suede, you can use a heavy standard sewing machine. You will however need a stitching machine for anything heavier, or if you are going to do a lot of this.

I have a machine and I have made a few shift boots in the past let me know if I can be of service... last one I did for a customer I only charged $20 plus materials.

I'll have to take you up on that offer as I need this sucker done...I'm tired of my looking like it's made for the tracks. Where are you located bro?
