Anyone Know NYC?

So, on Sunday I'm going to NYC until monday afternoon. I've already booked a hotel (Radisson Lexington on 47th st, couple blocks from 42nd grand central station).

Let me start off by saying i know nothing about New York. I need to know the best and most cost effective way of getting to and around it. I was planning on parking at the hotel but it's 42 bucks per 24 hours....seriously?!?

I want to know if there's a way of parking at a train station just on the edge of the New York traffic area so i can park there, and ride in to my hotel area. The travel maps and guides are so effing confusing i'm just looking for some advice on where the best place may be.

My plan includes being in Coney Island at 2pm on sunday, and the rest is all based on time and interest. My main focus is getting my car parked, and getting there by 2pm. I'm staying in the Manhatten area though so i'd rather that be the area of focus

PS if the idea is amtrak from portland to NYC forget it. they want 230 bucks per way for 2 seats. ridiculous.

My daughter and her boyfriend went down to NY weekend before last to see a concert at Jones Beach with I believe 9 in Snails and someones addiction ? They took the Downeaster to Boston at $22.00 each and walked from the north station to the south station to get a train into Grand Central and that was $60.00 each. From there they rented a car and stayed over at a friends place. That came to $82.00 per person each way.

You can take the bus from Portland-Boston-NYC for like $70/person roundtrip. It'll take a little longer then driving yourself though

Well, I need to call Peter Pan tomorrow (Bus line out of Mass) I ordered tickets off of the Greyhound site, because, well. They were cheap. Anyone care to explain?

I locked the keys in my car, in my ignition in Manhatten... LOL. Don't do that

It would probally just be easier to smash your window. So greyhound ftw? Damn was that $6 per ticket?

i talked to both greyhound and peter pan and both said that everything was fine. the person from peter pan (they have nothing to do with this trip outside of the fact that they own the station) said they have some sort of deal going and was like, wow yeah that IS cheap! and started laughing. cross your fingers people, i feel like this is an epic heist.
