ATV for the woman

They just opened the trails here! My neighbor took me out yesterday to explore them. It took all of five minutes on the trails to realize my woman won't be riding ***** for very long and will want her own ride.

I got my ATV last fall for logging and yardwork on my teeny property and have not really used the trails; for the most part I used it for exactly what I got it forso far. It is pretty much a workhorse Arctic Cat 4x4.. Big, heavy, hard to handle... the woman can ride it but hates how much work it is to deal with because of its weight.

(insert cartman voice)

AS illustrated here, you can clearly see she does in fact ride said vehichle in question...

but alas she DOES not favor how it handles and it is even worse now that I put the Mudcats on. I come from a land of two wheel two stroke blenders on wheels so am I just getting used to ATV's and still learning. Literally up until last year the only thing I could do on an ATV was run myself over when I went to put a foot down..

Anybody ride, know female riders and thier preferences for a machine? I don't want riding to become a chore and unpleasurable for her. She did blast the nighbors Honda 400 rancher but did not like how complex the controls were with the semi-automatic features.

I have been scouring uncle henry's for a dealio

but am still lost on the basic direction of what I want to do for her. About the only other requirements would be the ability to add a back seat for one of the kids, 4 stroke, 4x4 and something NOT insanely overpowered we are not out to kill her.

Hi,

The new Honda Foreman 400 ES with power steering is a great choice, and imo any lower-CC ATV with power steering will fit the bill.

(No need for a 750, lol!)

Get her a rhino. Two seats, stearing wheel, auto and a blast. Or buy my raptor 350 and teach her to shift.

I have a 250cc 2wheeldrive Honda Recon that my mom loved to ride. Its lite, very easy to turn, and is really fun to drive. She liked that over my dads 400 4WD Rancher. 4wd made it harder to turn...

tyvm...power steering huh? neato,,,,

She just rode an arctic cat 550 fi and loved it...hahahah..she's gonna die. We for sure need 4x4 where we are, the trails are nasty fun. We are for sure going to see the Honda now..

Honda or Polaris. They both make wheelers with power steering
We have talked to a few folk round here, looked onpoline at specs and reviews, ect, ect...

I think she really is lusting after the power steering Honda Fourtrax Rancher. Pending a test drive and a good price she will probably end up with a white one (they dont make pink) to match her white shift helmet with the artwork her kids cant see...hahaha

damm.. she did love that arctic-cat 500 we checked out... much more fun that than what I ride and use for working in the yard. We are afraid it would B a deathtrap for her inthe long run...(refer to video above of woman blasting donuts on the snow with 600lb plus atv)

Thank U all for UR input....

Based on advice we ended up having her test drive a few different makes.. Result... she didnt like how twitchy power assisted steering was, rear wheel drive was out as we need 4x4 where her overall comfort.

After driving it all, I bet the sales guy hated us she ended up on a 09 Yamaha Grizzly 450 4x4. Nice compact size, doesn't weigh to many tons, easy for her to manuever and she has a chance in *** of getting clear of it if she gerts out of hand <---don't forget this is the woman that rolled a monster Arctic Cat backwards up a hill with me on the backseat... fun fun.

(the woman having at it)

She'll love it! A local kid my kids 'wheel' with has a 3 year old Grizz. It takes a pounding and only problem they've ever had was a dead battery.

I'll probably find a used on next summer. Grizzly is top of the list....or a Raptor

she is loviunjg her Grizzly... problem is she is loving mine even more and I often loose the 550 to her... that's OK the 450 is a lightweight little thing, I can pretty much trail ride it wide open and toss it around like a dirtbike... I am sure someday I will blow it and it will get its revenge in one fluid "runover" of the owner... it is inevitable!
