Being Pulled Over

MikeD

N/A All The Way!!
So...on my way to work today I was tagged going 80 on 295 ( I was running late and usually keep her around 70-75 with the cruise control). Thankfully I was let off with a warning because of a clear driving record and the trooper seemed to be a nice guy. Anyway, this got me thinking about other members' meetings with law enforcment....what kind of stories can we bring up here????

in the last week i have seen 4 speed trap between augusta and portland and one of them was the white van on the bridge trick

I saw that same trap...right after the Riverside Street exit in Portland heading south right? There is usually a trap right after the Gardiner exit on 295 (by the toll plaza)...I wasn't caught up in a trap, just a sneaky spot the cruiser was in.

Usually trooper=ticket.

But the last Union rally-x I got a warning from a trooper. The world is ending soon.

yup that's one of them.last night we were headed to waterville from augusta and they had a speed trap set up at night they took one of thier black unmark cruiser and parked it in front of a line of the marked reflectored cruiser so you couldn't see it till you were like 50 ft away from it

Good question mike... I dunno what others are going to say but I look at a forum as an open discussion. Its a source of info but it is also like a public record and it is accessible to anyone with an internet connection. You might not want to post about something that is questionable in nature, no matter the intension. Some things might be better left off the record even if they are innocent in intent. I guess in the end its up to each person what they want others knowing about them or thier oppinions... I have thought about this a bit. My driving record has been 100% clean for about 4 years now, knock on wood. Before I was 23 though I had my share of speeding tickets and warnings, perhaps more than most people.

Oh crap maybe I should not have said that.... ahh whatever. Ha ha ha.

I can't blame them for coming up with good spots...they're just doing their job. I might have a different opinion if I had a ticket sitting on the kitchen table though.

I get where you're going and it makes sense. I didn't mean for this thead to be about bad experiences with police or bashing the highway patrol guys, that's why I started with the positive experience that I had. I know that a warning is a one-time deal and I think I deserved one based on my driving history. Next time I get pulled over for something, I'll deserve a ticket. If I were issued a ticket today, technically I would have deserved that one too, but I got lucky with an understanding trooper. If I was ticketed, I wouldn't have been happy about it, but 80mph isn't 65mph and I wouldn't have much ground for arguement.

No your right, no room to argue. In my experience though, your generally not at risk until you exceed 10mph over. I have however been pulled over when doing 43 in a 45. Got a warning that said "speed" with no explaination. He didn't search me either, just asked me some questions about the logos on the car and my computer in the back seat. Actually the jerk asked if the computer in my computer in the back seat was mine!!! Tell me, how does a flashing looking car relate to being a thief? Arrg. I asked him where I was speeding and he mumbled something about the bridge being a 25mph zone due to the D.O.T. urban compact sign. "Ummm, right (sarcasm)" I thought to myself. There is a 45mph sign right before the bridge, and a 40 mph less the 1/8th mile later.

i have some how managed to never get a speeding ticket in my life and man have i dotn some stupid stuff. hell in college me and another guy decided to drag race across a bridge from a light well we got up to 90 in a 35 and on the other side of the bridge was a cop and i thought for sure i was goignt o jail. as we rolled by him he was sleeping int he front seat of the cruiser lol

that's an awesome story.

I have also never had a speeding ticket. And honestly 75-80 is my consistent speed on 95/295 and I've never been pulled over even when going by cops. I have been lucky though!! I have done plenty of stupid **** that I should have gotten in trouble for. But usually as long as you treat the officer with respect, he does the same in return!!

Yeah, and maybe our resident police officer can comment, but I met my day's quota of "sir" and "officer" in the 4 minutes I was on the side of the road!

I get hassled FAR too often, and imo the "F40" wing doesn't help.

Too many bored cops between tourist seasons = time wasted on the side of the road.

that's why I like the 09 WRX hatch. It looks like a black protege or corolla. Its stealthy and doesn't get noticed.

Been a few years since I have got a ticket, on 95 in york following a dark Tahoe, I think he was the trapper. I deserved it...

Be safe out there.

I got pulled over for doing 5mph down rt 32 in bristol

(Pulling a trailer, and a wheel bearing blew, so I was just pulling it slow so it would hopefully make it to the launching ramp)

it's been 4 years since I've been ticketed. I got pulled over in mechanical balls a few months ago for passing another vehicle, while on a 4 lane highway (minot ave) in auburn, because someone called saying it was "unnecessary"... and the cop was trying to give me a hard time about it. but i was super pleasent and showed all appropriate papers and permits and he said because i was so cooperative he'd let me off. sometimes respect is a good thing
