Black Rims

Need some ideas:

I have been trying to buy black rims for the Subi. This, for some reason, has been harder than I thought it would be. I want an all black rim. Not gunmetal, not black with a red stripe on the outside, not hyperblack. Flat black is what I want.

Tirerack has nothing really to offer except a set of Enkei's and I'm not sold on them. Discount tire has Tenzo's that I want real bad but they are out of stock. They say even Tenzo doesn't have them available to be shipped. I did some research on NASIOC but I'm trying to find a place in ME or NH that might be a good place to buy from. VIP tires say they can get me just about any rim I want..... except the Tenzo's.

I want the Tenzo Type M V1, or the Tenspec. Anyone know where I can find these in 17?

Flat back is pretty hard to find, have you thought about painting them yourself?that's what I did, and It came out great! And it only cost $30 bucks.

And cause I like to clown out my car:

Flat Black Yo

Im not to sure where to get the tenzo local....

But you could always pickup something local that you like, and powdercoat them black for short money.

I say get yourself into 18's for summer wheels. Grab some used 18's off NESIC, or here and powdercoat. Any place (like vip) will cost an arm and a leg for tenzos anyway. You would have better luck (for less money) getting used wheels and coating them.

Just a thought. Sorry if im no help.

I considered painting the stock rims but I'm a little nervous doing it. Don't want to make it look ghetto. Thought I would make an effort to find some proper rims first.

Dont be nervous! Its really easy, it just takes a good solid saturday. Lots of prep work is the key, that way it lasts and looks good. I think mine came out pretty damn good. Or get them powdercoated!

Wheeldude.com he sells rotas which are pretty good quality for cheap. There are a few flat black models on there.

used 17" Rotas + rattle can (flat black) + bit o elbow grease = yer plobrem solveded

or, try semi-gloss black, easier to keep clean

If I can rattle can wheels, anyone can. I did a set of RS 6 spokes gun metal a few years back for the RS and they were in great condition when I had them powder coated last year.

2 weeks ago I took another set and painted them black to put on the STi. A couple hours/beers to clean them up and a couple hours/beers to paint them and clear coat them. Really easy. I'd post pix, but they are currently so dirty you can't tell the color anyway!
