Blue (smoke) screen of death!

So .. When I start my car up in the morning, theres a nice big plume of blue smoke that comes out the exhaust. It lasts 5 - 10 secs, then I don't see anymore. I've checked my oil several times, and each time it's down about a quart, but it's never gone down further than that, no matter how long it's left. About 2 weeks ago I noticed a lot of exhaust, but didn't realize it was blue, when I checked oil the other day, ... about a quart. Filled it, and the next day I checked it again, and it was almost down a quart. But for that whole week, it didn't go past the quart mark.

What could possibly cause this, I mean I know it's burning oil, but what causes oil to get burned like that?

Well the motor is a 94 Leggy Turbo motor, probably around 170kish on it. For a while I was just adding oil because it was leaking from the oilpan. Fixed that, and I try to do it every 3k, might go a little over every once in a while. I was reading something about synthetic oil and subaru motors, and how they do that with synth, but it's never done it before so ...

Me thinky turbo. You need a TD05-16G my boy
I need better brakes too

haha, find me a turbo and I'll start saving!

Funny you said that. I've been working on getting the rear stuff off since I talked to you. I have the front left rotor and caliper off but so far the rear hubs won't budge. Any ideas for getting that rear knuckle off? The bolt that holds the lateral link won't come out.

might be valve stem seals as well. while the motor sits not running the oil runs down the valve and into the combustion chamber, then when you start it the oil burns off. in that scenario its leaking the same amount while the motor runs too, its just slow enough that you dont notice it.

A sh*t ton of PB, a little heat, a huge braker bar w/long pipe extension, a powerful air gun, tons of brute force, lots of 4 letter words, and bam they come right off!!!

Thanks Mang, I got a powerful ass impact gun, just gotta put the heat to 'er next. I managed to get the nut off the front part (of the lateral link bolt) but the rear won't budge.

I'll throw in some freebies for ya Tyler. Thanks for waitin for me

You may end up having to hit that huge bolt with a sledge. If you end up ruining one or both bolts, Tyler will have a set out of his car, plus i have some left over. Not to mention getting new bolts is easy if that's what it takes to get the knuckles free.

It's not problem man, I wouldn't have had any time to get them on as it is anyway

So, valve stem seals ... how hard to replace? If it's the turbo, what would be causing the leak?
