Boost Gauge...

Ok, so i've tried everything and my stupid boost gauge isn't working. i have a maddad electronic boost gauge and i have it so that it sweeps, but doesn't read ANY boost. it just sits at the bottom of the gauge (not zero, -15 or whatever the hell it has at the bottom.)

I've swapped out the boost sensor (which is now brand new thanks to maddad's awesome warranty process).

i suspect it's my noob wiring job, but honestly as bad i am at wiring i can't see where i might have gone wrong. to start, the vacuum line is now lead into the cabin, as per advice from gabe. from there, i have the data line (white wire) leading to the gauge, and the power i tapped into the cig lighter. i used a voltage meter to make sure i picked the right place to tap, and used the same clip that connects to the back of the lighter. i basically just put the wire right into one half of the clip and then connected the two sides again.

the wiring mess is nothing to look at, but i've double and triple checked that everything is connected and still nothing. the gauge is tapped into the cig lighter green light, and that sweeps perfectly fine. can anyone lend some advice because i just can't seem to solve this problem

so when do you want me to look at it and double check your wiring

Bah. Probably soon Gabe. I don't see any reason why where I tapped in for power wouldn't work. I'm gonna check the data wire again

Vacuum line is definately good. Tapped in after the bpv

any kinks in the vacuum tube from the bpv all the way through the firewall and to the sensor? Do you have a good ground? Are you using any vampire clips? Just some ideas!!!

If the gauge is lighting up and sweeping like it's supposed to, I would say it's safe to assume the power wire to the gauge is fine. Theres definitely wrong with the signal it's getting so it's either vac line or this "data wire" you speak of. Where does the data wire go from/to? What's it supposed to do?

sounds like a broken gauge to me... the ones I have owned when powered will sit at zero. They won't go into vacuum until the car is running/it senses vacuum.

For example... My car is running normally = Boost gauge reads .8bar vac. If I go unplug the vacuum source the gauge will sit at dead zero and will never move.

i haven't put in the different gauge though, maybe something to try. i used the power/ground from the cig lighter clip.
