Nigel had a wild ride in Lanark Highlands Rally up in Ontario this weekend, ridin shotgun in ex-ACP Evo IV of Clearwater Designs.

Here's some onboard...

We are OK tho a bit sore today, but nowhere near as banged up as that poor ole Evo!

You know even though you guys took a big off your driver is very squared away, she gets you guys out calmly and carefully. Kudos to her!

Yerf - tough to tell what side's up after an off like that. It seemed like she was in far less of a hurry to get out of the car than I would have been. Way to keep your cool

I had to get out quick to put a warning triangle up the road so we wouldn't get creamed by the next car that swung wide at "our" corner.

the inside rear door latches of the Evo had been removed to save weight...had to fiddle with rods in the door-pull mechanism to get out. fortunately for me, the next car to come along stopped (which he should have since there were no triangles or "OK" sign out yet) and opened the back door for me. we were also worried the car was going to teeter over on top of me once I'd climbed out. Michelle was very calm and waited till I could open the door for her from outside. lucky thing the Evo doors were gutted, they felt like they weighed like 18 ounces.

i saw this last night and said...that's gotta hurt. send HANS your footage and get your crash test dummy shirt!

ha ha very effin funnAy, crash test dummy. we were jopking on ride home about having my Peltor painted like a test dummy!

jokes aside, I got my bell rung pretty good by the multiple impacts. At first I didn't really know which way was up or down, I even say something about disorientation in the vid. It was really weird climbing into the back seat thru tangle of roll cage tubes, only to not know how to open the rear door latches.

another time if we landed codriver side down, I'd have driver get out first, then follow thru driver's door. i know that in the LDR car, there's no way to clamber thru cage and into back seat, it's either out the other door or bust de windshield, and we have glass breaker thingies attached to our shoulder harnesses.

this may have been the old Evo IV's final shunt, I mean stunt.

However, it's recovered, been re-shelled, & reborn from worse before. I think it has 90+ rallies in its logbook(s)

doubly ironic we trashed ACP's old Evo the same weekend he won Oregon Trails in his newest one.

I found that video really cool. Not the crash, but you rairly see what actually happens after crashes. Usually it's just on to the next clip.

crash vid:

looks like in the beginning it was wicked slippery, then the car was hooked up, then slippery again... into the rock.
