Brakes won't bleed.

Chris

YARRR SUBY MONSTER!!
I left the rear brakes on my GL disconnected for about a week. I left a stick on the brake pedal holding the pedal half way down to close the ports so all the fluid wouldn't drip out.

But now I can't get the brakes to bleed. Have someone step on the brakes, I open the bleeder and get just a little dribble out. Now they're rather mushy and barely work... What have I messed up guys...

I don't have a fancy vacuum bleeder, unfortunately.

you can also stick a tube and bottle on each corner, and crack the bleeders and let it sit for a while. it will gravity bleed to get you to a starting point at least. Just keep an eye on the fluid level while doing this.

When I bleed brakes I don't pump them multiple times. Close the bleeder, depress the pedal and hold then open the bleeder until no air or fluid escapes. Close and repeat until very little air is present. It is time consuming but it has worked. When you have a lot of air in the system pumping multiple times can entrap the air even more making it harder to move all the air out.

I'm a dunce

It's always the stupid stuff, right? And as soon as I ask a question, of course I figure it out.

Bleeder screws were clogged. Took them out, stuck a wire through them and through the little holes at the end. Blew some brake kleen though... and badum. I could bleed my brakes.
