CAI....STP or Perrin?

its actually SPT.... and they dont make one for the 08 rex. subaru has announced that they will be scrapping that project all together. there will be NO spt intake for the 08's at this point.
as far as intakes go.... (i plan on getting one eventually) but i wouldnt make that your first performance mod. go find a place still carrying the SPT exhaust at the intro price. i got mine for $300 out the door.... but your looking at over $800 soon. buy it now while its cheap, if you still can. OR i recommend getting and accessport/tachtrix cable. engine management is the best mod you can buy. you can do absolutely nothing to your car and get a stage one tune that will really liven up the car.
if you looking to do it just for the sound..... do the open air box mod that i did and save your money. any claimed HP gains ofan intake are on non-tuned cars and they are only as high as they are cause your car may be running too much boost or running unsafely lean. with a proper tune i would be willing to be that your not even looking at 5hp. which you wont even feel the difference.
now again if your wanting it JUST for the sound (which is awesome by the way) there are a few nice intakes out there for the 08's. just make sure your getting one that is made to be used without a tune. most state that your not going to want to run their intake without a tune. its just not safe. more air flow=more boost. and most just plain and simply may make your car run like poop. im positive that perrin recommends a tune with their intake. and its really on the pricey side for an intake. this one is what i may end up with when i do decide to buy one.... http://www.harmanmotive.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_452_472_479&products_id=2510 its doesn't require a tune. AVO also makes a nice one and i believe it has a nice heat shield to make it a "true" CAI.
butl ike i said. i wont be buying one for a while. im just going to keep running my open front box with drop in filter. im will be buying a up pipe, down pipe, wideband O2 sensor, and a tachtrix cable next. then im getting tuned for a nice stage 2 tune. the cars going to RIP!!!!
