my engine recently died. piston went haywire cuz the engine gobbled oil, yay. i want more liters without a turbo. what can i fit in? does it have to be a subrau engine? i am looking to snag one from a wrecked car (if it's in okay condition) or to buy and engine of someone on here.

vehicle is a 2000 coupe five speed.

an H6 out of a SVX isn't a direct swap obviously but its very do-able

a turbo will compensate for more liters.......the 2.5 can handle say 5-6 psi safely....id guess that's about 220hp

suby flat 6 cyl will plop right in.

if you use the net often, one can search and find.

discussions on swaps in more than one place.

I like no turbo too...

I actually want no injection, to mimick the 87 chassis I want a six cyl in...(last carbed engine suby made)

but no six cyl has the carbs. This means a big chore with wiring...

member journals at new englnd subaru forum has some slow going projects to check out, a 4 to six cyl swap.

my 2.5 engine is junk so i wouldn't be able to toss on a turbo. thanks to everyone for the 6 cyl advice. i have been doing some research and turned up some good stuff. my stock transmission will hold hp from a 2.0 turbo engine too right?

I'd look for a EZ30D H6 engine. It goes right in and you can also use the ECU. Unlike the EG33 from the SVX, you don't have to cut the radiator support to fit the radiator.

Like I said in your other thread....

If it's your daily driver and you need it up and running. Just get another 2.5 and drop it in. If you can afford to have a project and have to dink around with it, the 3.3 or 3.0 swap is fine... just get used to reading the H6 thread on nasioc and doing lots of homework on this stuff. If you're lazy you'll have a useless car, if you actually know your stuff and are willing to put the time/effort in, you can pull it off.

This. Ask me how I know.
