My legacy died on me last Friday night. It happened when i hammered in first through across marginal way coming off 295 . At the highest point of acceleration the car shut off and i coasted to a stop. It was totally dead, no lights in dash, no fuel pump running, But the door chime and power locks still worked. The next day i discovered the fusible link in the fuse panel under the hood had been burnt out. I disconnected the battery, fixed the wire and when i reconnected the battery the wire burned up immediately. I didn't even have the keys in it. I have had the car very temporarily shut of on me like this twice before but it came right back on suddenly. I have no idea what it could be besides a bad ground. Do you guys have any advice?

yea i pretty much copied this from the legacy forum. It seems like a dead short coming from the fuse panel area. i spoke to an auto electrician who thinks it may be related to the alternator. The car is currently sitting at my work on marginal way. It cost me 65$ to tow it from franklin art. to here at work (.2 miles). I wanna fix this asap, the brat is not a good dd/pizza delivery vehicle.

You ain't gonna find the problem staring at your screen man! Git out there and start checkin' stuff! I'd start with the wiring around the battery area. There is a ton of wires that get pulled/banged and generally abused whenever someone pulls the battery in and out.

disconnected the alternator and fixed the wire and it fired rite up, I'm hoping its just a bunk alt and not the wires coming off it. I got a new one and hopefully it will be all set when i find the time to throw it in

that main power wire on the top of the alt (not the connector to the left) is just a ~8ga wire that goes to the batteries pos terminal. might as well make a new one to replace it.
