Car key tip stuck in the keyhole.

Went down to Mass to hang out with my friends. My friend used my car key to open a beer bottle, she said it bended. Why would you want to use it when it's like all warn out?!

When we was about to head out, my other friend bend it even more and it broke off! They were high and drunk, also being stupid. I was so upset and frustrated

. I had no way else to get my car to unlock besides sticking it in and twisting it so now the tip is stuck in the keyhole. My spares were already in the car

while it was locked. So as for right now, I don't know what to do and how to get it out. I don't feel like paying so much for the mechanics to do. I already spent a lot getting a new axle, having a mechanic putting it on and renewing my gasket manifold. Aaah fml, yes those smileys explains how I was like or how I reacted. Help please?

Try a pair of very long, thin tweezers.

Otherwise it's probably a matter of pulling the lock cylinder off the car and trying to extract the broken bit that way. I don't think I've ever seen a Subaru lock cylinder out of the car before, but some that I have seen from other cars you can work a small pick into various holes and poke a broken key out of them that way.

Oh, and you should probably give your friends a swift kick for being dumb.

not sure from description if the problem is that the broken key stuck in keyhole, or is it the busted off bit stuck in there?

if it's the broken key stuck in there, shoot in some PB Blaster or WD40 and wiggle key to get it out. this may take some pretty hard tugging, but beware of breaking what's left of the key off even worse.

if it's the broken-off tip stuck in there, it's time to change the lock cylinder, or at least pull it out and start fishing around with a dentist pick or tweezers

I am confused, is the key piece stuck in the car door or in the ignition? Either way, its gonna be a PITA. Did you actually get the car unlocked or is the car stuck in Mass? Is it the tip of the or half of the key? The reason I ask is because I had a key break off in the ignition of a Jeep I use to own and I left it like that because the ignition still turned. That option was the cheap way out because everywhere I asked they told me it would cost $500+ for a new ignition switch, and it would never match my old key again. If the car is not a newer one, I would suggest having a new key made and leaving the messed up lock alone. Just use the other front door to lock and unlock. That option is cheap, but if you don't like that option then you could also get a keyless entry system. I haven't used the door locks manually on my WRX since I bought it. Hope that helps in some way.

So are you locked out of your car? If so get someone with a slim jim and then use your spares to start your car. I dunno, good luck!!

Oh and get some friends who aren't high and drunk;)

The other end is still stuck in the car door keyhole. Luckily it's not stuck in the ignition. The good thing is, I can still use that short car key to unlock/lock my doors. Any other object can. Hopefully, I get this done asap before winter comes

.. Now I'm thinking about buying a lock/unlock remote and also a car alarm

.. I highly don't trust Mass people, especially in Lowell

if you can't fish it out with needle nose or picks, it's time for a new lock cylinder

i think if u can take ur door panel out and gain access to the back of the lock there might be a hole to push the key out from the inside....

No apologies necessary. We call ourselves M*******s too.

I grew up in Vermont, but after 20 some years in MA, I suppose it's rubbed off.

From the looks of how much of the key is still in the lock, some thin tweezers should be able to get to it. Just be super patient and give it a little squirt of WD-40 to help things slide easier.

Good Luck...

The lock smiths have a tool that looks surprisingly like it. A coping saw blade is 1/8" wide at the most. get one with big teeth so it will hook the key instead of sawing it. cut the end off to make a wedge tapering to the teeth. insert so it should cut on the out stroke. have fun. savoo
