Hey guys, i just bought this to replace my crumpled beer can of a hood that's sitting next to my garage

finding parts for this car sucked btw, never expected this. i drove to Rhode Island to get this

(an hour from my apartment in mass) got it for 100 bucks at a junk yard

Has some blemishes...

Seems as though layers of carbon fiber are peeling away from the clear, this is right in front by the grill

Just buy some good epoxy and glue it?

3) Lots a pretty deep divets and scratches. doesn't look like any have reached the Carbon fiber, its just in the clear

4) Also, around the scoop the clear coat looks cloudy? its white-ish in some spots you cant really even see the carbon fiber underneath

As always, any info that you guys can throw out there it greatly appreciated

Thank you in advance

i believe you can just wet sand the clear with 1500 or 2000 grit and re clear to fix the white spots but as far as the carbon fiber seperating i think you're screwed....mines doing the same thing in spots....

If its too deep to be wet sanded it might be too far gone to repair. If I didn't live so far away I could repair it for you with some quality epoxy resins and a few pieces of carbon. Its extremely hard to teach somebody how to repair something that advanced over the internet. I wish I could help you out, its one of my favorite things to do.

best solution to fixing a frigged-up CF hood is to take it out back and stomp on it (very satisfying) and just go get a proper aluminum white bugeye hood.

even the best CF hoods develop those gelcoat voids (white spots) after a while, no good way to address the issue.

Couldn't you vacuum bag it and inject some polyester resin?
with a triple POOP ton of prep work digging out all the pits, maybe. even so, imagine the PITA factor of cleaning the white residue out of like 500 pinholes, 49 stress cracks and who knows how much discoloration and crazing.

then cleaning up surface after vac bagging with the right UV stabilized resin, refinish surface coat, buff, ugggh it makes my hands hurt just thinking about it. I work in the boat biz so I know it can be done and also how hard it would be to get the right results.

DC 43, did you go stomp on that CF hood yet??!!
