carpet repair?

As I vacuumed my car last weekend ( first time since october) I noticed I have a 3-4 inch long cut in the carpet between the right edge of my floor mat and the tranny hump. I've pondered for a couple days and can't think of a good way to repair it, and new carpet is over $300, and would be pointless since it's going to the spa. For my birthday. Thoughts or repairs? I don't know if I want to remove it and try to stitch it or just duct tape the backside...

300 is steep.

I could see that for the self healing magic carpet ride of the gl touring wagons..

but the walmart impreza stuff is a dima dozen.

300 is crazy.

just look up impreza, it goes many years same carpet...and found they respond to heat to further make fit

I have custom 3.5 inch tall beams spanning the floors where there was none, and carpet looks like it belongs. heat gun worked it.

impreza rugs fit the 80s as well.

I will seek the sites I found and post one.

Get some carpet tape, you should be able to get it at lowe's or home depot and comes in double or single-sided roles. It's made specifically for patching carpet seems and tears and whatnot.

Tape didn't stick. Everything is still damp from winter. Car's sitting n my dads garage with. All the doors open trying to dry it out

Detailing shops ussually have a person that drives around to many different detailing shops and does carpet, seat, leather and vinyl repair with special glues and a heatgun. They can ussually match the fabric and cover up almost anything so that it is un-noticable. I have seen seats that look like POOP from multiple ciggaret burns come out looking like new. If you talk to a shop that restores vehicles purchased at auction for resale Im pretty sure they could help you for $100 or less.

It's going to the evergreen auto spa Wednesday. I'll ask if they know of someone that can repair it. If not, I'll try something different this summer

Give Evergreen a call before you go so they might be able to have their repair guy come in on Wednesday while your car is there. Just want to save you multiple trips. Good luck, those rips near the right heal rest area are a pain to repair. I also have used fabric glue and put a piece of dense foam under that area to prevent tears again.

It's actually just a couple inches in front of the right seat mount. No divots in the heel rest area for me, I have the all season floor mats

that's sucks, might work after it dries, but I am sure that evergreen as mentioned above knows someone that will permanetly repair it

I could have sewed it together, but I was too frustrated I couldn't get the harnesses unplugged from the bottom of the seat. I'll try the tape again in a month or so if it dries out
