Check engine light diagnose problem

I was cleaning my car a couple months back and found that the plug going to my check engine light was disconnected. I plugged it in only to find the light flashing. After searching countless times, and having other people search, one a mechanic and the other a friend who works for NAPA nothing has been found. Its a 95 Impreza L 1.8l Coupe. I doubt it matter but its front wheel drive. Concluding it was OBD1 I looked for the connections to make the light blink for the code. Does anyone know where they are?

I Believe you have plugged in the dealer check, aka d-check connector. That connector allows certain items to be tested at the factory and dealer with the Subaru monitor. If it is green, remove your keys from ignition, disconnect the green connector, drive as normal.

It is not the check engine light connector. The check engine light can only be disconnected by pulling the bulb from your gauge cluster. There is no special connector specifically for the check engine light.
