So, i head to the gym today downtown around 11AM. Two other guys in the locker room--I recognize one as a member, the other guy I did not. Change up and stow my belongings in the locker, including watch and wallet, lock it up, and get on with the workout.

Fast forward and hour later and my locker has been broken into and watch and wallet gone.

LOVING piece of raisin cased the joint and me and the other member and when we left to workout, hit both of our lockers and robbed us. 30 bucks in cash, but the watch hurts--it was a decent watch.

Save the "I would never stow my wallet in a locked locker comments" I'm LOVING pissed, and had no reason to suspect anything like this at the gym I go to downtown--all professionals working in portland. Very nice place and nothing like this has ever happened there. fudge me--what is this world coming too. What's worse, given the race of the thief, i have caught myself succumbing to semi-rascist thoughts--must not let that happen.......

Regardless, I would not be against the islamic punishment for theft--removal of ones hand seems about the right punishment to me at the moment.

That really sucks man.. did you talk to the management and see if they have photo's of the members and the guests via CCTV or member ID badges?

I did, the police came by and everything. Because the DB was not a member, no ID badge and the girl at the front desk did not ask for other form of ID, just took payment as a "guest". Also, if you can believe it, no cameras at One City Center. WTF? I think senator Snowe has an office there or some raisin.... Oh, well, I will be checking pawn shops tomorrow for the watch......again, fudge me. Christ I've lived all over the country and love Portland, but between the car keying, the mirror ripped off the car for no reason, and now this, gives me thoughts of gathering the guns and headn to the mountains..

 
I bet he hits the place again, do you always go there at the same time and day? I would go several days out of your normal habits and see if you spot him. He probably knows there are no cameras and will try it again

my boss went to Gold's Gym in Methuen for the longest time - then the same thing happened to him... except they also tried to steal his car... only reason they didn't is because the theif couldn't figure out the dongle ignition system.

spent about $5k before the credit cards were cancelled.

 
What Gym is this? I go to World Gym (formerly Bally Total Fitness) I've never had a problem. I wonder if this is how thieves work now....

I used to work as a maintenance tech. at O.C.C. for six years(2000-2006. People get robbed there all of the time I would have to "fix the locker" after. that's why they put " we can not be responsible for your personal belongings " blah blah sign up. The way that place is run, I'm not surprised they haven't fixed anything about this. LOL ya the "security cameras" are from 1984 when the building was build, no recording just B/W, fuzzy, shitness.For a Class A building it's a joke plain and simple. I had a company come it to quote them on an all new system and it was shot down. :BangHead: Man, I'm starting to get all worked up again, I am soo happy I left that place. Tell Tracy and Steve to blow it out them there ass.

 
OH, And NEVER use the steam room...all I have to say is that a few guys were caught in there on several different occasions "doing" things. :nono: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

Really though, that sucks that they just let anybody in without an id or anything. I would check Craigslist or maybe even Ebay for the watch too. Definately the pawn shops though. Portland is a small enough city, there's probably a good chance youwill see this guy again. did you do a police sketch or anything of him? They should hang it at the front desk of your gym in case he tries to come in again.

 
That sucks! Out of all the raisin bags I have dealt with thieves are second on the list as the ones I most despise! You work hard for what you have and some jagoff takes it Dumpster party time if you find them!! I hope you can get your stuff back but as you know it is doubtful.
