COOLING ISSUES

recently i started to get a leaky radiator hose on the top of the radiator that feeds into the top of the block. it was leaking out of the hose connecting to the block. i replaced the hose thinking it had a crack or something. learking stopped but when i went to drive back up to my school i started to overheat. i couldn't figure it out. while i was driving i cranked up the heat on full blast and that brought my temp back down to midrange which is what it usually runs at. stopped into a little subaru garage and asked the mechanic. he said thermostat or headgasket. so i replaced the thermostat. no luck on the bringing the temp down and lost heat inside my car as well. then i read something about trapped air within the system and followed a procedure on how to remove the trapped air. no luck. i have a feeling that the antifreeze is not being circulated, which, i think means the waterpump is gone. the waterpump would take the hot water/antifreeze to the heating mechanism for hot air in the car as well as cool the engine. also, i have noticed that the top radiator hose gets so hot i can't even bare my hand on it. does anyone have any advice or gone through this situation with their subaru? i could really use some help on this one.

you need to have the heat maxed out when you bleed the air out of the system. you can easily blow headgaskets with the air trapped in the system (yeah BTDT)

I would try getting the bleed thing again. but make sure the heater core is being utilized. and make sure the car is warmed up.
