day in the driveway

Spent the day in the driveway on my ass and back giving the 180K OBS a little TLC...

replaced the stock struts and springs with RS springs and KYB Grp 2s (note saggy butt spacer for rears from camotoy.com)

That's better

The aftermath!!! anyone need... good front right or good rear left struts? WRX springs? or the parts necessary for a setup other than the struts and springs themselves?

I replaced a front axel with a reman one from NAPA

OBS back to 'sport' mode? Must be much nicer.

Did you try the WRX springs? Did they work?

How was this whole ordeal?? I'm about to replace all four struts on the 92 leg wagon in the next week or so...anything I should lookout for or be cautious of?

I see all kinds of pictures, except the 'after' pictures. Dang it!

You will need a hack saw to cut a notch out of the brake line mounts. Other than that its a piece of cake other than the struggling with the spring compressor part. Stupid thing wants to rotate a lot.

I had WRX springs on it and wasn't happy with ride height. The OBS sits a little lower on the springs from my 2000 RS.

I'll snap an after pic tomorrow. I took it for a ride tonight to settle things in.

hack saw for brake line tabs, zip ties to put em back, a spring compressor. And on a 92 you will need PBlaster to get those old stubborn bolts loose.

Be sure to mark your front camber bolt to put it back together the right way.

This took me 5 hours, including breaks, a trip to the store for bug spray (blackflies!!!) and a trip to Napa.

Here is a before shot. look close and you can see that the rear end is sitting LOW!

Here is an after shot. More even, now on RS springs and rear spacers.

I did more work today...

Valve cover gaskets

Paranoid Fabrications grounding kit

I attacked some rust with POR15. Dang this stuff is messy.

and the OBS got new wheels and tires. The 5-spokes will be sanded and painted gold. I can't believe the previous owner painted over the stock gold!!! The tires are 205/50/16 a smaller tire for a little better acceleration and a lower profile. They are General Exclaim UHP summer performance tires.

The pictures are super huge. Temporarily froze my computer.

That tractor is starting to look better than your car! Haha, but I'm a wagon head.

I should follow your lead and get off my butt and start fixing our OBS.

I bet it drives way better with those KYBs and RSs
