Dear Audi s4 Driver...

YES I FREAKING SEE YOU! Now stop driving like an asshat and allow me to stay alive for the remainder of my drive in boston.

------

I was in Boston for the Sox game on Friday and one of my favorite cars, an Audi s4, (04/05ish) made sure to catch my attention but attempting to weave in and out of Boston area traffic on 95. Because of course I work at full mental capacity, i normally follow the school of pick and lane and stick with it, because otherwise you'll go insane and probably put yourself further back. Well it worked, and for that reason I was often the car denying Mr. Audi his attempt to cut back in my lane. This is what must have driven him to drive on my bumper, stay directly next to me then all of a sudden pulse forward, and whatever other annoying thing you can do.

Anyone else notice an influx of very annoying Audi drivers? I've seen a red Audi s4 wagon with black hood, roof, and trunk, that's always auto-xing all over in town Portland.

Trevor when you're in yours do you feel like people may automatically assume you're going to drive like a jerk?

Also feel free to use this as our "Dear Car-X Driver," Thread.

Well...Top Gear always like to plug in that Audis are drivn entirely by ****s, haha. Oh wait...damn...

..was this offending S4 perchance black, big exhaust & somewhat slammed?

If so, have seen him on Rt 1 Saugus -- made him work hard to catch up, and then all hell broke loose. Dood went ballistic once he "killed the rally WRX" then passed everyone and everybody, din't matter if there was a lane open or not, in he swerved and off he went.

[[Asshats, DYE!! frowny face goes here]]]

actually, he was pretty darn good at slicing up the bumper-bumper stuff, but in faster traffic he was rolling WAY quicker than the flow, and if some poor schmuck yakking on the phone cut him off unintentionally, it would have been "Big News At SIX!! 50-car chain reaction on Rt 1 caused by Asshat In S4"

then again, it's not like Suby drivers never eat up traffic for sport, either.

But at some point enough is enough.

I have no idea what you just said nigel.

BUT there's a goofy white civic that does lame crap like this around Portland. It's a white hatch with window chalk numbers on it from NER on it still. Hard to miss because it's LOUDER than chewbacca taking a crap.

I expect this stuff from honda owners, not so much audi owners. But then there's plenty of toolbags that own wrxs/stis too. So they probably expect the same from me.

nah it was white nigel. pretty nice rig. he had his buddy in the car, which probably ended up being one of the root causes of stupid driving.

People who drive faster than me annoy me... but at least they are gone in front of me and out of my life.

I really hate people who drive slower than me though.

Especially on twisty curvy back roads that don't have an enforced speed limit... Because I tend to drive 20mph faster than I probably should, and about 40mph faster than stupid tourists... The ironic thing is, it is usually people from mass or NY who probably drive like a complete asshat on the highway, but are reduced to driving 20 below the speed limit on curvy back roads because they don't know how to do anything but be an asshat on the highway...

being a former mass-hole myself, i encounter way more slow/under-confident/inattentive drivers in maine than i did back in mass. i'll give you the fact that i see a decent amount of tourists driving stupidly slow, but on an every day basis maine drivers are more incompetant than what i used to deal with.

take this with a grain of salt from a guy who did over 10 grand in damage a few months back

:mad:My town just went from a population of 6500 of us to over 25k this weekend. Most traffic realated problems[around here] are due to people from away.I also used to work and travel to Btown weekly, they couldn't have got that much better driving in a generation:D

I just let them have their way. Its not worth crackin up my car, or the company's car like last thursday when Mr. Eclipse was darting from lane to lane on rt.95 west and north of Boston. I like cooking along, but only by myself, no tailgaters or lane darters. I like to keep it safe, smooth, obvious of my indications, and fast. B-Bye Mr.Eclipse...you go do your thing way up there so we all feel better way back here.

My feeling exactly.

I couldn't care less about driving fast on the highway. All the fun is had on empty twisty back roads

What`s missing from many, not all, born n bread Mainers is their lack of defensive driving skills. Back in N.Y. I saw many crazy bastids on the road and you learned fast how to deal with them or you were toast. I have to admit after being a " Mainer " for the last 14 years my defensive driving skills are getting rusty because I am not driving in that car rage climate anymore.

Yeah, I drive down to New jersey every now and again to visit my uncle. And it always takes a bit to get used to the people's driving habits...

I am with you all, I drive fast and occasionally weave, but I DO NOT DART. If I am going 20+ over the prevailing speed I will smoothly move around traffic, but I hate "darters" and tailgaters.

Also take this with a grain of salt, I probably have caused many a driver to think all STI's are asshats, I apologize to all that I have given a bad rep.

I actually think it has more to do with the S4s penetrating the used car market more deeply. The more years that pass, the cheaper that used first- and second-gen S4 will get. The cheaper it gets, the more likely it'll be purchased by younger people. Younger people = high ratio of testosterone:common sense in decision making.

I usually just get people staring at the car, I guess being bright red with chrome mirrors will get that.

I don't know about the bi-turbo ones, but mine with the v8 is a highway monster so I can see it turning some people into ******bags. 80mph you are cruising at 3k rpms in 6th gear, which is peak torque... you can get to 100+ very quick and it pulls all the way up to as fast as you want to go.

That red S4 Avant had his ass handed to him by me on I-295 last week.

Don't worry, no swerving through traffic or anything like that. No one was around. It was like someone cut his ignition as soon as we hit the curved bridge (Tukey's?). He started it......

the problem is that the "nicer" (b5+b6) audis are coming down into a price range that mid and early 20's ******bags can afford. their nutsack riding internet friends and bros all think these cars are "the ****." Therefore, you see them auto-xing in places where there isn't a cone for miles while blasting g-unit or lil wayne over their subs that defeat the purpose of having a trunk.

I had a guy in a POS honda right on my butt the whole way down east ave onto lisbon st last september flashing his lights, swerving, and darting. I could actually smell the car before I saw him becaues he was burning so much oil. And it started out that he was in the other lane and I was driving next to him, then he ended up behind me. We got to the part where the highway crosses 196 and he decides he wants to funny (or something) and swerve into my lane, just missing me. Luckily I was watching him and had time to move out of the way. I couldn't believe it! I had enough so I pulled over and called the police. It was such BS. I hate people like that, I dont know if he was trying to get me to race (i have an outback for jesus sake), impress me, or just being a dbag. Never made eye contact with the guy, nothin, totally random.
