decent cheap hotel in Portland

Looking for a suggestion for a decent hotel in Portland for $50-$70 or so. I know there are plenty of cheap ones, but the reviews online sound pretty damn sketchy for some of them (dirty, used condoms on floor, bugs in room, loud partying, etc...).

Any good suggestions are appreciated.

spend the extra couple bucks and spring for the eastland park. get the room off expedia or priceline . only cost me like 75/night. nice place

there is a Clarion right on Congress St. just off of I-295. I stayed there back when it was a Hilton Garden Inn I believe. Then they changed names. It is still a nice place though. I don't know the price though.

Go for the Eastland, like Nailman said. They run some ridiculous deals sometimes and it's a pretty classy nice hotel. during the winter they ran a deal where when you stay two nights, the first night is at the regular rate, and the second night the price is $1 per degree the temperature was, with a minimum of $32.

+12345 for Eastland. Our crew stays there every year for the Maine Boatbuilder's Show. We have done the Hilton Garden waterfront it's nice but kind of plasticky and not very inexpensive. Eastland has a cool sort of "Faded Glory" ambiance.

Check out Preferred Room pkg, you get breakfast and a couple free drink coupons for the sky lounge on top floor. Def one of the coolest vews in P-town, and the drinks ain't bad either.

another Eastland advantage is that it's easy walking distance to Old Port, and easy crawling distance for that late nite trek back to the hotel

One more for the Eastland. That's where Mr.and Mrs. Pedro had their Reception....Awesome place. Classy rooms. The bed was comfortable and the whole room was clean. And as mentioned the sky bar was great.

also if it's any bonus you'd be like 2 blocks from where i reside!! (which is not always a great thing)
