I've been talking to this girl at work, and a few people know that I am interested in her.Our schedules don't usually match,but we've chatted a few times here and there.I haven't wanted to come on too strong too soon,but she does seem interested and I've been working on asking if she wanted to hang out or something.This has only been 2-3 weeks.

So,today,a co-worker who is also supposedly my "team leader" comes up to me and says "You don't have any interest in so-and-so do you?"....when he knows damn well I do,and he's seen me talking to her.I just go "Why's that?" and he pulls out his notepad and goes "Because she gave me her number.".......I just went "Oh,that's cool! Good for you,man!".He says "She said 'This isn't a date,right? Just hanging out.'" and he says "Yeah,you seem cool and I just want to get to know you".This is what he's telling me went down.He tells me the same thing...she just seems like a cool person and I want to get to know her.

Ok,first.....why did he come to me and ask if I had interest in her AFTER he already asked her out? If I had said yes (which he already knew I did),it wouldn't have changed anything,right? It seems like he's just trying to shove it in my face and brag that he asked her first or something.The guy is already know as a sneak and I didn't like him in the first place,and I'm not the only one.I seriously doubt this girl is going to be interested in him,anyways,but the way he did it really made me a little mad.Am I wrong? It's not like I can't ask her out anyways,but still.

This guy shouldn't have done what he did. You are correct in thinking that he did it for exactly the reasons your talking about. He's a dick.

Guy is a total prick. Aside from various stabs at him the only thing you can really do it be "better" then him. If he's as bad as he seams to be the girl will figure it out quick. You just need to keep up conversations with her and charm her your way. If you can make a solid connection that will work out better then "getting number, going out"

The sad thing is that you can't really ask for her number or to meet outside of work too soon, or it will look like you are copying or competing for her with the other guy. Most girls don't like that if you're looking for a serious relationship.

 
well that was a total cockblock but all is fair if you never tried anything. The best part is if she is a slut, which they all are after a few drinks, she will let both of you hit it >
