Diesel help???

so we have an 87 gmc 2500 with a 6.2l diesel in it. i used it earlier to tow the tractor around to get that turd started, let it sit a couple hours and it wouldn't start. can't hear fuel pump and no "wait" light to indicate glow plugs are on. the batteries were kinda low, and i seem to recall a mechanic from work saying that on bigger trucks fuel pumps won't work at >10 volts. thoughts anyone?

that is an engine I was looking forward to.

oem glo plugs dismantle, needs modern part number to avoid killing the engine...

the glo plugs work on a relay, search you tube, I found 3 different completely unique hacks, from different relays, to a push button hold and count the seconds (inconvenient, but the strongest of course, because it was the simplest)

listen for audible click to verify it is not just the wait light.. no click, no glo plugs.

they are really simple if you have a book... ingenuity can unfold in more than one way

pump motors aren't typically goign to run well if at all with voltage that low.

you should try charging the batteries for a while and again attempt to start it. if you don't get it there, let us know as you will have to start running down the checklist of what-if's

after an ecu reset and fully charging the batteries (still don't know what's up with that, brand new alternator last year, batteries this year)

it started right up. i'll keep checking it every couple days, if there are more issues i'll ask again
