DIY carpet hook? or other way to get the floormats to stay put?

My wife has a '98 legacy wagon and I have some cheap floormats in there that keep sliding around. Anybody have a DIY to keep the mats secure? I'm also looking into a set of OEM winter rubber mats as they dont move around as much.

step 1) charge battery on 18v 1/2" driver/drill

step 2) grab approx 10-12 1" sheet rock screws

step 3) don't be shy, tack that suckAr down!

i did something similar to my all-weather mats, just drilled a hole in the mat and stuck it on the stock pin that is on the floor. Worked with the rubber one, don't see why it wouldn't on the carpet; just be careful not to pull the strands with drill bit, by that I mean sometime the drill bit will wrap the individual carpet strands around it and make a "run in the mat"

Hope that is works for ya dude!

My stock mats won't even stay put ... they move so much the stock pin came out ... several times ... haha

I have no ideas for you Rad, sorry. Maybe when I get my parts, we can try to figure something out

I put some non-skid sheeting under the floormat we'll see if that works.

Sorry Tyler, I totally forgot about that, I'll get on it ASAP

Funny; my dad came up with a great resolution to this awhile back. I actually had the piece that tries to hold the carpet in place, but that ripped right out and left a hole in the carpet. That gave us a point of entry to make a small bracket that the front left seat bracket bolt goes through on one end, and put a bolt that we cut down to size on the other that sticks up through said hole. Place the mat so the bolt goes through the hole in the mat (well, the stock subaru ones do, you could drill yours out?) and tighten a nut down onto it. Works like a friggin charm, I haven't had to bother with it since.

a zip tie around the seat base leg. that's how I'm keeping my winter mat in place on the 93 Impreza. No Factory hook on the old cars.
