well ihave a weekend to myself and would love to go out for a nice drive on some twisties next weekend the 1st and 2nd. not sure were some good roads are but im sure some of you can help me out with that. anyone interested in going on either saturday or sunday? let me know and maybe we can plan a nice route out

I'm game but will have attatchments... That means the kiddies will want to stop for ice cream/food sometime along the way....

shhhhh...don't wreck my image and tell anyone I have kids and a family...

On the way to the fish pond stages there was a nice piece of new pavement..up rte 26 to rte 16 in NH.... I know dixville notch has just been repaved but there is a few miles of road I will just hate in my car and have to take really slow.

Pretty sure I can convince the wife and kids to partake... we could even stop here and BBQ if the grill isn't under water by now...

Hurricane Mtn. Road and Bear Notch Road around here (North Conway area) are always fun to drive.
Ill be bringing the 4wd hemi and leave the slightly lowered wrx at home:confused:if we take that road....Id be up for a nh run, up past glen nh and over to bethel me and ,back down 26 towards home:idk:4 hour loop?

yeah im fine with stopping for ice cream food etc i have kids too so i can appreciate that. like i said i dotn know the area so i will have to trust you guys on the route. in north carolina we had blur ridge parkway wich was about 20 miles of mountain twisties on the tops of the mountains. amazing views and a blast to drive. is there anythign liek that in maine?

bbq at your place after sounds good to. lets start gettign a head count of who would be interested

If U do the drive and it is near where I live U all can still certainly stop by...chill out, BBW and I can sit in my car and make motor noises with my tongue between my lips...

haha i caught serious air on that road in my integra last year! Deeni your car will not make that road i am telling you right now, but it is by far the most fun to drive i have found... think english country lane meets side of mountain complete with switch backs!!! I perfer to run it from NC to the Maine side, because well i dont like over cooking my brakes trying to slow down for the switchbacks, and that's the part i like to go fast on so i figure i can stop a bit quicker goin uphill if anyone is coming the other way.... BTW much more fun at night when you can see headlights and push a bit harder (not that you dont need headlights in the daytime the forest is so thick there)

no it is paved, it just has a lot of quick elevation changes, and sharp corners. the tar is not rough, but the amount speed of elevation change would make it hard for Deeni to bring his car through

yeah I have to concerned about bottoming & thank U for the heads up lost....

erm... I won't lead on a nighttime cruise in the area's we had referred to. I have already had a number of close call with moose and deer on the roads around here... I would recomend a night drive in an area that we know there are NO moosies or at least less of a population, I really don't want to B part of moose stew or want to get involved with picking pieces of moose out of one of UR faces...

Paranoid? perhaps.... I have not been up here for very long but have already seen some ugly result of animal/vehicle altercations I would rather not be a part of...

Maybe you should get a Hummer

I think pound for pound they do worse in a crash test than the Imprezza...... I would rather take my chances in a sewbie....From what I can see if they don't use thier suspensions to articulate on top of whatever they hit they usually get munched badly. I saw a few good mashed ones at my time with ******** Toyota in MA and they were usually on the loosing side of the altercation.

& wouldnt' trade my 4runner with 100K plus miles for a new Hummer except maybe perhaps a H1

um what kind of raod is this? im not goignon some mountain dirt gravel road withmy car
I drive the road a lot. It's a shortcut to get to Fryeburg, and there's a trail head at the top for mtn. biking and hiking. If it's a nice day, the hike up to Black Cap is fairly quick and gives a killer view.

A few years ago, I recorded a drive up (until the camcorder battery died) from the North Conway side. It's kind of hard to watch though because my GF was holding the camera. Although it's tempting to drive fast, the road gets a decent amount of traffic including cyclists, so it's best to take it easy on the blind corners.

One of the group drives we were on in the mountains, a deer ran right between two cars while we were hauling ass ... I almost messed my pants and it wasn't me that the deer ran in front of!
