Earth Hour 2008, who else is in?

im turning on every light on in my house, getting in my car that gets 17mpg on 93octane, driving to bestbuy to get a new plasma screen tv, and maybe stop to get some taco bell on the way home.

;D

all while spraying aerosol cans out the car window and eating endangered species.

Negative. What's it going to hurt?

What's it going to accomplish?

Not a damn thing.

If someone wants to do something useful, force an oil company to sink some of their profits into doing their own research into alternative fuels for not just cars, but major power plants as well.

Everyone turning off their lights and gizmos for an hour is going to...well...A lot of people are just gonna sit in the dark for an hour...that's about it.

Wanna do something useful? If everyone boycotted gas for 1 full week, that would make an impact. Or, carpool for a month. If we all did that, gas consumption would drop to such a smaller level it would eventually translate to significantly lower prices because of supply/demand.

im downloading the new March car pack from Forza 2, eating taco bell and I just got back from the mall in my car that gets 18mpg on 93 octane gas. I did light a candle in the bathroom (see previous statement regarding "taco bell"). But, I did shut all the light off in the house to do my part.

+100000000 on no driving for a week

all "no driving for a week" would do is jack the prices up. I hope that auto makers still offer the gas guzzlers, and that stupid people still buy SUV's for their status symbol. If the only vehicles on the road got 30+mpg, the oil company wouldn't be able to sell as much gas. Less gas sold= less profit. That will lead right back to higher prices.

Although, if everyone had a 30mpg car, they would drive more, visit more places...hmmm...

Ah ha! It's the universe cause-correcting itself! >

Oil consumption was down 1.3% last week. what do the oil companies say? "anomolie" that is it.

a month of being down they would say "summer blend changeover" then "economic slow down" then "higher gas mileage cars"

they will always make mony off us and will always have a way to excuse any change in the market. "terrorist threats" and the price goes up. does it go down? nope.

Building that still.. is looking more realistic all the time.. ;D...every local dump should have a fermentation plant, separate the vegetable matter from the inorganic stuff,a little sugar ,water, yeast ...few days later we havehigh octane fuel. ???...SERIOUS ;D
