Eating Out.

here is a question for you to ponder.

should we have a law in maine that requires eateries to post thier state inspection scores at the entry of their places of business?

i drive truck and deliver beer and i see a lot of kitchens, walk-ins and food prep areas of a lot of different places.

there are places i avoid like the plague.

should the public have a warning of what their last inspection results were to make a choice as to whether they want to eat at that spot or not?

i say yes. i hear they do this in other parts of the country. why not here?

That sounds awesome. I have a friend and his dad is a health inspector and some of the stuff he tells me about the local places is nasty.

I too delivered to mannny big and popular restaurants in Portland and the surrounding towns... and some are soo nasty. some of which I used to eat at and will never eat again after seeing what I have.

So I say YES to that one

The problem is we need more inspectors. We are talking public health here.

i didnt start this thread to start naming names. i started it to ask what people thgouht about the idea of doing this.

i think as a matter of public safety and in public interest, we need to make choices that could effect our health.

when i was a cook/sous chef/linecook/prep cook in a former life, the recipe for success where i worked was simple 1 part cooking 2 parts cleaning. and we tried our best to give the inspectors something to find.

it was usually things like blown lights or other non food related items.

dont get me wrong there are places i know full well are kinda grubby but the food is legendary and you just have to go for it.

many places down in boston display theirs in the front window.. ..not sure if its a law or not.

def a no brainer though

I think NYC does the post on the entry thing.

I think it is a good idea. I got pretty sick a while back at a chain eatery. the manager told me to shove it when I called him. I haven't been back.

Just be careful what you post on a public forum. You are not a State inspector, there could be ramifications

meh.... its freedom of speech.

i do fire inspections on buildings around here. some are resturants. and i tell you what... i know where NOT to eat.
