So I just noticed that the STI motor that bought was an 04 EJ207 and I was thinking it was an STI EJ25. I did a little research and seems like its a great motor but I was just looking to see if anyone one here had any opinions on the EJ207 vs EJ25 in the sti.

I think, don't quote me on this, but I think the ej207 has forged pistons, as the ej257 does not.

also, the way I see it, there is no replacement for displacement.

That'll b sick in the rs. I'd rather have forged internals than the extra 0.5L in disp. That engine with a stage 2 setup in that car should rock-it!

I have a v7 in my car right now and I can tell you pretty much every little thing about it. Great motors! the v7 (2002 jdm year) is a fully forged motor and the v8 (2003 jdm year) has cast pistons and a amazing nitrate treaded crankshaft. a JDM ej207 will have big port heads vs a EDM which will have small port heads due to a emissions regulation in euro countrys. Either way they both are amazing. Let me know if you have anymore questions im an open book.

there should be a stamp on top of the block saying which motor it is, I can see mine and it says ej257.

on a ej207 it will say "ej20" just like the ej205. What you want to look at (and post up if you want) is the number on the small white sticker stuck to the passenger side timing belt cover (pretty obivious when you look should be right there) post up that number and I can tell you exacally where your engine is from and from what kind of car with all the details for it.

Anytime, feel free to shoot me a PM or just post up here with any questions. Your welcome to come take a peek at my car too if you need to SEE it, im a hands on visual learner myself so I know just reading usually wont work for me.

Thanks for all the info guys
